Reading Draw Sees Town Drop to Eighth
Monday, 14th Apr 2014 23:32

Town dropped to eighth in the Championship this evening after Reading jumped back to sixth following a 1-1 draw with Leicester at the Madejski Stadium.

Alex Pearce opened the scoring for the Royals, who ended the game with 10 men following Mikele Leigertwood’s late second yellow card, but Danny Drinkwater equalised for the Foxes shortly before the break.

The result moves Reading back into the final play-off place on goal difference (+13) ahead of Brighton (+12) and Town (+8) with all three sides having 64 points and four games left. To assess how the remaining weeks of the season might pan out, try to the TWTD League Calculator.

Elsewhere, a Town U21 side beat Bournemouth 2-1 in a behind closed doors friendly at Playford Road this afternoon. Paul Taylor and on-trial Tottenham striker Darren McQueen were on the scoresheet, while Norwich academy left-back Ben Wyatt was also in the side.

Meanwhile, Town’s potential involvement in the play-offs and the Barry Manilow concert soon afterwards have led to Suffolk FA’s four county cup finals having to be moved from Portman Road to other venues.
