Dozzell Nets Winner for England Friday, 7th Nov 2014 21:12 Academy midfielder Andre Dozzell scored the winning goal as England’s U16s beat Northern Ireland 1-0 at Stangmore Park, Dungannon in the Victory Shield. The 15-year-old curled home a freekick from the edge of the box in the 34th minute with his delighted father, former Blue Jason, watching from the stands. “A brilliant moment for me, watching him run out for the England U16s and then to top it off by getting the winner. I’m a very proud father at the moment,” Jason, who is now a coach at the Blues academy, told TWTD soon after the final whistle. “It was a 25-yard freekick, he bent it over the wall and into the back of the net. A fantastic strike. “I’m obviously a bit biased but I thought he was definitely in the top two players for England. He kept it simple but it was a very intelligent performance from him. I’m delighted with him.” He added: “It was just a shame it wasn’t on Sky for everyone to see, but hopefully he’s done enough to get into the squad for the Scotland game which I think will be screened live at the end of November.” England, who lost 1-0 to Wales in their opening game, face Scotland at Yeovil Town’s Huish Park in their final match of the competition on Thursday 20th November. In addition to Jason, fellow academy coaches Liam Manning and Kieron Dyer made the trip to Northern Ireland to watch Andre in action. Photos: The FA/Getty Images
