Sammon Linked With Huddersfield Loan
Tuesday, 13th Jan 2015 15:27

Blues loan striker Conor Sammon is being linked with another loan move to Huddersfield Town for the second half of the season.

According to the Irish Evening Herald the 28-year-old Derby frontman is interesting Terriers manager Chris Powell, who is keen to add to his strike force.

Sammon joined the Blues on a season-long loan in August but such spells include the provision for a recall within an open transfer window, so Sammon can go back to the Rams and then on to Huddersfield this month.

The former UCD, Kilmarnock and Wigan striker, who has another 18 months remaining on his Derby contract, has scored one goal in eight starts and 12 sub appearances for the Blues."

Sammon moving on prematurely would mean Town boss Mick McCarthy would need to add another striker to his squad.

Some of the comments on here kind of remind me of the criticisms levelled at poor old Roger Osborne, until May 1978 that is.

Not our player so if his parent club choose this action its up to them. Always tried hard and we should thank him for that. However anyone who thinks he was adequate cover for Didzy or Murph is in dream land. Mam says he happy with squad but often mentions squad size. We are light in number. We need another striker if he goes. Doyle from Chesterfield would be good fit, young, in form and would be happy to be back up at this stage. We also need more quality in midfield. Saturday showed that. Will Hughes (quality that he is) really dominated our boys. Hyam is so far off championship standard. S Hunt is not good enough by a long way and Anderson & Tabb work hard but lack real creative quality. Gudmunssun (sry spelling) impressed me when charlton came the other week. Great left foot would give us more passing quality and Toszer of Warford probably best midfielder I've seen at portman road this season. ME should allow MM to bring in s couple or we may just miss out. And we all know how tough it is to go up through tge play offs.

Thanks Conor for your effort at our club but it just didnt work out.I think Noel Hunt could do a job up front replacing Murf or Dids as a sub or if Dids dropped in behind them.A Jonny Williams type player in mid is a must to create things as we lack proper supply for our strikers

I disagree about Sammon's workrate, when he came on for Anderson against Boro, Sammon looked the least interested player on the pitch!

Lingaard and Williams are both good calls, I'd like us to be even more ambitious and sign someone like Callum McManaman, reports in the weekends papers said he's available for £5m. I know we can't afford that outright, but we can pay in installments as Mings/McGoldrick will be playing in the premier league next season whatever happens.

Remember when we were in this same position in '99 and gambled by spending big on Marcus Stewart.....

As far as Derby are concerned I would've thought they'd want sharp shooter Sammon to stay with us for the rest of the season.

Lets face it he is simply not good enough and we need to be aiming higher if we are serious about going up.

I like Doyle, but Nakki Wells is a good shout and he played really well down here this season, and didnt a certain Marcus Stewart come from Huddersfield, and did we not then get promoted?
