Former Blue Price Could Return
Friday, 16th Jan 2015 11:14

Former Blues keeper Lewis Price could be set for a return to Portman Road as cover for the injured Dean Gerken. TWTD understands that Town are keen on bringing in the Welsh international on loan from Crystal Palace.

Price, 30, made 74 starts and one sub appearance for the Blues having joined the club as an academy scholar from Southampton.

Having spent time on loan at Cambridge while with Town, the 6ft 3in tall keeper joined Derby in the summer of 2007 where he was reunited with current Town goalkeeper-coach Malcolm Webster, who was working under ex-Blues boss George Burley.

After loan spells with the MK Dons, Luton and Brentford he moved on to Crystal Palace in July 2010, where he again worked under Burley and Webster.

Price’s opportunities have been limited to 15 starts for the Eagles and he spent time on loan with Mansfield last season and Crawley before Christmas.

Town boss Mick McCarthy wants another keeper to come as cover for Dean Gerken, who is out for around a month with a hip injury with 19-year-old third-choice Michael Crowe yet to play a senior game.

Not sure Price is likely to be any better than Crowe other than he has played a few 1st team games at this level.
Still MM & TC haven't done so badly so far so got to back them in this

Hah..twas me..always thought he got shifted out way too soon and personally I don't think we've had too many better (permanent) keepers since he left.

I for one would welcome him back permanently.

I echo that Price probably won't be any better than Crowe will he? Oh well, whatever Mick thinks is best is good enough for me.

He was a decent goalkeeper but never excellent. He did well to join a prem team when he left us.

But if he only will be cover then why not?!

Not at all surprised at this link if our Goalkeeping coach has anything to do with it, it seems he can only get in those who he has worked with before.

Was surprised to see that Phil's report has him as 6'3", don't remember him as a six footer. So he may be taller and wiser than when he left us. Tough on Crowe to have to wait for his chance but goalkeepers do usually have a longer career than outfield players, time yet for him to be given games.

Can we get Shane Supple back in as well? He's fine for cover though.

Lewis is a great guy with a top work ethic, never let the team down when he played. People forget ME was not about back when he was in the team, was sold too early, but had to balance the books. Then done the same with N.alexander six months later. Two players that cost us nothing sold at a profit, can't say that about many other signings especially from that period up until MM getting the job. Great to see him back in a town shirt. I would sell gerken and sign him permanatly.

Wish the negative pillocks would leave it out. This might be to the end of the season, so when Gerken gets back, Crowe goes out on loan yo get that experience. Just go with it. This ain't Keane or Jewell times, remember
