McCarthy Will Look at Loans
Tuesday, 3rd Feb 2015 11:57

Town boss Mick McCarthy has reiterated his intention to use the emergency loan provision during the remaining months of the season.

Yesterday, the final day of the January transfer window, passed without any moves in or out of the club, although with confirmation of the signing of out-of-contract Irish youngster Dylan Connolly understood to be close, with McCarthy happy with his existing squad.

“I said no one was leaving us so it was always going to be a quiet day,” McCarthy told the club site.

“With signing players, I’ve said many times, where do I get players that are better than what we have?

“We have done well with what we’ve got this season and I trust the players to carry that on. They are a great bunch.

“Bringing players in on loan is a possibility though. We can bring players in on emergency loans until the end of March and we can take them for up to 93 days which will take us up to the end of the season.”

Left-back Tyrone Mings was the subject of much media speculation during January, along with the likes of Teddy Bishop and Daryl Murphy.

Shortly after the window closed last night the 21-year-old tweeted: "Buzzing the window is now shut. Time to focus on our main objective - ITFC."

Just listen to you all slagging off MM. He's the guy that's taken us from relegation strugglers to the top 4 with no money. Yes all the other clubs are spending now, but spending money doesn't guarantee promotion and could end up with them being hit by the FFP and end up being in a worse position than where they started.
MM is doing everything he can to strengthen while keeping within the wage structure and budget structure. That's what makes me proud to be an Ipswich Town fan and proud to have him leading us. Regardless of whether we go up this season, next season or the season after, we will have done it the correct and ethical way. Ensuring our financial safety for the future.

Russell at Derby has a long term injury, so they have done someting about it (what did we do last year when Dids got injured?).

We do need recruitments to get us to the end of the season, we have too many very ordinary players who seem somehow to get in the team, and it you dont need to be a rocket scientist to see we are becoming stale and need freshening up.

The problem is that this team never does well with so much time off, they become rusty and need game time. The rot set in with the fa cup games , we need a rotational player in the mould of Murphy as he must be worn out.

Getting quite tired of seeing all these comments about the disgust, disappointment and concern at the lack of spending at the club.

This is the same club that spent millions of pounds on players a few short years ago and nearly got relegated with those players. This is also the same club that went into administration because of overspending and poor money management.

Mick has come in, cleared the decks and built a team that IS challenging for a top 2 spot... for next to nothing! And to top it all off we have conformed to FFP and have an academy that again will be going for Cat 1 status this year (which will happen eventually).

For gods sake people, we're 3 points off top spot and have been in the top 6 for a large part of the season. Enjoy it and stop bloody moaning! COYB!!!
