Fulham Linked With McCarthy Move
Sunday, 22nd Mar 2015 14:38

Fulham are reported to be interested in recruiting Town boss Mick McCarthy.

According to The Sun on Sunday the Cottagers plan on a move for the Blues manager if he fails take Town into the Premier League this season.

The Londoners are said to have been ready to offer Steve Bruce a £30,000 a week salary and a budget with which to sign players until he extended his Hull City contract and are now claimed to see McCarthy as the man to get them back into the Premier League.

Fulham, relegated from the top flight last season, are currently 20th in the Championship, eight points from the relegation places despite receiving lucrative parachute payments.

Current manager Kit Symons took over, initially as a caretaker-boss, following the departure of Felix Magath in September and is contracted until the end of next season.

McCarthy, whose family home is still in Bromley, signed a new three-year contract with the Blues last summer.

He would of left for Ireland job ,he would of left for Palace. He would leave for any other premiership job in my opinion. But Fulham are in free fall ,its a huge re building job ,one thats really similar to ours when MM took over. I could never imagine him wanting to jump to that. However given this season is our best chance of a return to the weekly thrashing land if we dont make it then unless some outstanding recruitment of players takes shape the best we can hope for next season is mid table. Reasons , No way will Murphy win us so many points next season ,he will go back to being a 1 in 4 striker in my opinion. Our midfield players are not with attacking intent ,so they will give us a similar goals return. Our defence would probably ship in a similar amount of goals. So i guess we would be a rebuilding job too ,but with less money than Fulham. It may just turn MMs head.

I admit there have been times I have been critical of MM's tactics and team selection but I have usually been proved wrong - guess that's true of most fans. Having said that I cannot name a better manager to lead us into the promised land. He has developed a side that can compete with the best in this division and has done so without flouting the FFP rules (unlike many other clubs). Really cannot see his loyalty being tested by another championship side and I thank him and the team for the best season we have had in many years.

Well this is up there with some of the dumbest rumours. An outstanding career move it'd be for McCarthy to leave a team he's built towards the top end of the division for that post-Magath muddle near the bottom.

I doubt Mick's going to be tempted away from Portman Road in the foreseeable future. But I suspect if he ever is, it won't be for a team sitting a dozen or so places below us.

Mick won't go unless he is pushed. Loyal as he proves every week to his players even when they are not playing well. Lucky to have him I reckon. Big Mick fan as most of you know. Backed him in Saipan against Judas. Back him now.

Blandford.....like you I admit I have on occasions this season lost faith in MM, but on the whole, it has come back to bite me. The only thing I would say is, I am not sure how much further MM can take us without an influx of cash, which he is not going to get! So much hangs on this season!

He owes ipswich nothing at all and 30 grand a week is a big wage plus a big transfer pot. Do what you feel is best mick but if you do go leave tc behind.

Cant see it happening. Mick is not one for jumping ship and he has unfinished here. Going on to Fulham is hardly a step up.

Can only dream someone would come in for the old donkey.

As a manager he's like a blind man trying to do a jigsaw with chopsticks.

Isn't it funny how we here these stories regularly, whether from the fans of other clubs via Harry from Baths excellent reporting, or whether it's in the media when he's linked to other clubs.

Seems like some of our own are the only ones who don't rate him.
