Murphy and Maitland-Niles Start at Leeds
Tuesday, 15th Sep 2015 18:58

Town boss Mick McCarthy has made two changes to his team for tonight’s game at Leeds (KO 7.45pm).

Daryl Murphy comes into the side for Brett Pitman, who drops to the bench, while Ainsley Maitland-Niles comes in on the right of midfield for Freddie Sears, who misses out with a hamstring injury. The Blues are otherwise unchanged despite the 5-1 defeat at Reading on Friday.

Leeds: Silvestri, Berardi, Cooper, Bamba, Taylor, Murphy, Cook, Adeyemi, Dallas, Wood, Antenucci. Subs: Turnbull, Wootton, Bellusci, Mowatt, Phillips, Byram, Doukara.

Town: Gerken, Chambers (c), Smith, Berra, Knudsen, Skuse, Douglas, Maitland-Niles, Fraser, Murphy, McGoldrick. Subs: Bialkowski, Malarczyk, Parr, Coke, Tabb, Touré, Pitman.

...the obvious inclusions still worry me however all credit for the attacking line up with two forwards and two wingers fir an away game ....clean sheet tonight and maybe sneak a goal is what is needed to Instill a bit of confidence COYB

I am seriously worried with that pedestrian midfield a dodgy keeper Tommy Smith out of position and no Freddie Sears. Really hope I'm wrong.

I am torn. On one hand I want Ipswich to win, support whatever eleven MM puts out there and for Gerken to play a blinder.
On the other hand, I believe it would benefit the team in the long run if MM finally spots the weakness we have in goal and replaces him. There are 39 games remaining after tonight's, 117 more points to play for.

Decent enough line up... Just think the Skuse & Douglas midfield partnership has been poor. Hope that's not the difference between the two teams tonight. COYB!!

Oh dear!!!

How on earth did Douglas get in? Coke must be wondering if he will ever play!!

Gerken, Chambers, Smith , Douglas all way out of form but still in.

Fingers crossed - maybe we will sneak it but that centre of defence and right hand side really worry me.

BraveBlue, agree With you & Muscletonjon, about Douglas he looks leggy & poor - however Coke is even slower, IMO!

(Que the minuses) but I believe Tabby would provide a better defensive option in the middle, at least he gets stuck in & has an engine!

Love MM, but he has to act now & why no Parr??? FFS.

Leeds look like their are going 4-3-3 with Antenucci on the right and Cook, Murphy and Adeyemi in the middle. I expect McGoldrick to drop back and work with Skuse and Douglas if there is any heavy lifting to do. He can link up with the wide players effectively as well.

Not a bad line up as long as Skuse and Douglas sit and protect the back four because the other day was a horror show. Very poor tactical performance.

I appreciate that MM doesn't want to make wholesale changes but Gerks and Douglas should have been the first two names to be left off.

Wrong back four. Win, lose or draw.

Let 3 in at home then suffer a 5 - 1:drubbing and a forward gets dropped ? . Parr and Coke must be awful in training

Gerken and Smith! Those are 2 changes I would have liked to have seen! Smith has been looking out of his depth in the team at towards the end of last season and this season....Gerken looks like he's lacking confidence and isn't commanding his area at all.....no communication with his back 4

Notice all the young players apart Maitland-Niles have now disappeared from the scene.
Looks like Leeds supporters saying that Micks old favourites will be playing are right, hope Leeds don't have too many quick players like our last two opponents did as our midfield will be struggling again.
Looks like Bart is ok despite some speculation on here.
To be quite honest as MM says none of players didn't perform poorly on purpose, and are anxious to put it right. It could be by not paying any money for players, and in some cases taking other clubs rejects that some of the players are not just good enough.
Apart from the two left backs who the manager has let go to premiership, only Jet and Chris Wood are still in the Championship I think, the rest now playing at a lower level or even unattached.I think several of the current first team squad would be in a similar position.
No doubt Mick gets the best out of his players;but my point is are some of these really good enough to gain promotion?
We shall see starting tonight!

Freddie can come on and pressure the tiring Leeds players, let's just hope for a better defensive display than friday and then we might get the three points every true town fan is crying out for!
