Touré, Pitman and Sears Start Against Birmingham
Friday, 18th Sep 2015 18:54

Winger Larsen Touré is handed his full league debut as Mick McCarthy makes three changes to his side for tonight’s live Sky game at home to Birmingham (KO 7.45pm).

The Guinean international comes in for Ryan Fraser, who drops to the bench having been a doubt having taken a kick in Tuesday’s 1-0 win at Leeds.

Touré looks set to play on the right of midfield with Ainsley Maitland-Niles switching to the left.

Up front, McCarthy starts with Brett Pitman and Freddie Sears with Daryl Murphy and David McGoldrick on the bench.

Birmingham makes three changes, Andrew Shinnie, Neal Eardley and Demarai Gray come in for Jon Toral, Paul Caddis and Jacques Maghoma.

Town: Gerken, Chambers (c), Smith, Berra, Knudsen, Skuse, Douglas, Touré, Maitland-Niles, Pitman, Sears. Subs: Bialkowski, Malarczyk, Parr, Coke, Fraser, McGoldrick, Murphy.

Birmingham: Kuszczak, Eardley, Spector, Morrison (c), Grounds, Gleeson, Kieftenbeld, Cotterill, Shinnie, Gray, Donaldson. Subs: Legzdins, Robinson, Maghoma, Toral, Davis, Caddis, Brock-Madsen. Referee: Keith Stroud (Hampshire).

Blimey didn't see that coming ,have to say Toure is a red card waiting to happen ,especially with tonights ref ,he's given more cards than all other refs in the champ. Its all going to be very interesting. COYB

don't see why murphy has been dropped , thought he was getting back to his best , could be heading for a car crash with this line up

442 vs 451 , so we will get overrun in the middle as Birmingham break late to get in the box. We tend to come through it ,but Brum will have lion share of possession .

Reckon Murphy still not up to full speed after injury. Interesting to see how toure plays. Plenty fire power on the bench.

Toure deserves to start if MM doesnt feel Fraser is up to it, he has improved in his last few games like in the cup and actually seems to try in the u21 recently unlike some of the other first team players when they play for the u21s.

Well....it is one of the best bench's we've been able to choose from in a hell of a long time and many seasons with players still to return! Come on Ipswich!

Wonder how many headers Pitman will win tonight. Has to be better than against Brighton.

Give Murphy time to get back to fitness. The season is about having a squad that can perform. MM knows what he is doing, he's not fool.

BTW WHAT A BENCH!!!

Murphy and Sears should be our strike force see Pitman as more of an impact player not a starter.... You watch he will grab a hat-Rick now C.O.Y.B

Hopefully people will acknowledge MMs wisdom after this.
Larsen has started v well. Germs made a great 1v1 save early. Chambo covering g across like a good full back does. All good in the hood.
