McCarthy: Jonas Has Fitted in Brilliantly Friday, 11th Dec 2015 06:00 Town boss Mick McCarthy says summer signing Jonas Knudsen has fitted in brilliantly since joining the Blues from his hometown club Esbjerg in the summer.
Danish international Knudsen, 23, was signed for a fee of around £325,000 in July and has now made 17 appearances for Town.
“I think he’s settling in really well,” McCarthy said. “He’s everything that TC saw in him and I heard when I spoke to the manager in Denmark and he gave me the heads-up on him. He’s just been a great lad, really tough, gets forward, he plays football, he can defend.
“I think for somebody who has just walked in the door he’s fitted in brilliantly, I’m delighted with him.
“Considering he’s £7.8 million cheaper than the one that we sold [Tyrone Mings], I think it’s not a bad deal, to be honest with you.”
The Blues manager believes there’s more to come from the left-back: “I see players coming into this country, into this league and into the Premier League from Denmark, from Holland, from Sweden and from other places and let me tell you it’s a helluva different ball game playing in the Championship to what he was used to.
“Poland, the same. Piotr Malarczyk, he wondered what was going on here. He thought he was playing with 20-odd whirling dervishes running around like Tasmanian devils, screeching and tackling and clattering into people.
“He really found that the intensity of training even was difficult. So when you come over and you’re going through that, are experiencing that, that’s difficult. And I think Jonas has handled it as well as anybody.”

Mick really is trying to give his players a confidence boost in public.. Douglas 'excellent' chambo 'top drawer' now Knudsen 'fitted in brilliantly' personally these 3 are the weak link to our side.. Both full backs get roasted against any half decent winger (I know we can't really call chambers a full back) and Douglas offers very little in midfield! Ok chipped in with a few goals but hardly a driving force and creative! I believe we will beat MK Dons but it will be false hope again once Derby come to PR.. oh then we have Brighton.. Oh then we have QPR.. I fear for the 'top drawer' chambo and the 'fitted in excellent' Knudsen

So much negativity on here all the time. Think about what the word 'supporter' means or bog off.

Id like this lad to suceed, but I dont see the point of a long throw every time into the box, Id like to see the stats on how many of these we have been won. All very well having this option, but we need to do something with it.

Hes 'fit in' too well Should be dropped for his poor defensive quality and that shocking throw which is a waste of time. The only goals it has created have been in our net

Let's nail this myth right now... The idea that the long throw leads to us conceding goals is nonsense. It is no different to us losing possession at a corner but no one moans about that or suggests we go short in that situation. This is just a stick people use to beat Knudsen with. Even if we do lose possession, we should still have enough people back to deal with it. If it ends up in the back of our net, it's more likely to be their error than Knudsen's. The only gripe we can have with the long throw is it hasn't looked like leading to us scoring a goal. That could be down to accuracy and trajectory, not attacking the ball or the fact the one player we throw it to tends to be marked by two or three defenders. I'd just like to see us mix it up a bit. The opposition expect a long throw so catch them off guard with a short one every now and again.

docsavage52 one stat on the long throw in I'm certain of; the opposition have scored more times following our long throws than we have! I agree with bluehook on the negativity though. It's like one long moanfest on here at the moment. Bah humbug.

Yes fitting in really well apparently. Micks lawns looking great, Knudsens all over it and with Smith fitting a new wood burner at McCarthy Towers, Gerken walking his dogs and Douglas painting his stairs and landing its all slotting into place for Mick and "The Undroppables"

He's even worse than the previous 2 left-back incumbents, and that is going some.

Surely a long throw is an advantage if you get something out of it but it's not Knudsen that's on the end of them is it? Personally I'd like to see him target the throws to one or two of our players rather than just lop it up in the air for a passing seagull to get on the end of. I also think he's a good player, a little lightweight at times, and he has some big shoes to fill and is new to the Championship. He's obviously enjoying his time here and makes an effort to applaud the fans, seems a nice guy. Everyone was so hopeful when we first saw these (now) much maligned throws in the pre-season friendly, once we score from one this will all be forgotten!

.......... anyone who knows a Player when they see one, knows Knudsen has much potential, and will most likely make Championship material - perhaps even better .... !! But - he is NOT there yet, and he was 'cheap' - that's why we have him in place of Mings. Club policy - whether we like it, or not. That's the brutal truth of it.

bluehook .......... another one who has to submit a juvenile comment - as if the Club can afford to tell any kind of support to BOGOF. No decent supporter of this Club would EVER tell another to do that either. Call yourself a Blue ? ........... you have no idea of what a 'True Blue' is - your post proves just that.
