Town Remain Sixth
Saturday, 12th Dec 2015 17:14

Town remain in the final play-off spot following this afternoon’s games with Cardiff, Birmingham and Sheffield Wednesday, who were all ahead of the Blues going into today’s fixtures, all picking up only a point from their matches.

The Bluebirds and the Owls played one another in the Welsh capital and drew 2-2, while the Midlanders were involved in a goalless game at Middlesbrough.

Brighton remain top on 42 points following their 2-2 draw at fourth-placed Derby (38 points), while Boro are in second (40), Hull City (also 38) third and Burnley (35) in fifth.

Town are now on 31 points with Cardiff and Wednesday seventh and eight (both 30), and Birmingham ninth (29).

Its tightening up a bit at the top,and with half the season left I don't think the top six is cut and dried by any means,or even the top two; as the EADT seemed to think the other week.

Was pleasantly surprised to check the table when I got home and see us still in sixth. A lot of results going our way recently, which shows just how similar the teams knocking around below the top five are. Big question is whether we can kick it up a gear against the better teams to hold them off, but I suspect we'll be in and out a fair bit between now and May - hopefully in at the time it matters!

A very welcome 3 points on my 1st visit to a lovely stadium and friendly mk fans while we had numerous chances to put the game to bed we also gave them a few chances to get something with at times very shaky defending(but then we should be used to the back 4 set up now!!) it's great to be in the top 6 again and we should be capable of beating anyone below us the test is now closing the gap on teams above us 9 points from 2nd? keep at it you blues and see what santa brings!!!!

3 of next 4 games are against sides above us and we'll need to up our game to stay in the top 6 I suspect.

I fear for our defensive capabilities over the coming games against teams above us. In truth, I think we will be found badly wanting in this department.

Keep the faith! We need to be positive. We can match any team in this league if we are at the top of our game. Of course this cannot be guaranteed ; so inevitably we will lose some. Others will too. But if we can perform at the top of our capabilities we will be there or thereabouts. We can only hope!

Obvious from today's game, we are not going to be favourites for the top 6, but then again there are alot of other teams between 5th and 10th who are far from brilliant. If we can get Fraser and bish back in action over Christmas, then maybe we have a squeak

Mick you may be happy we are not against a better team we would have been mullered today ....as I said I the notes after game report This performance was DRESDFUl....and you were happy with it....sums it up ...no imagination , no understanding of entertainment , and so stubborn ...you are the undoing of yourself,...happy with a one nil against a league one side.......no ambition DREADFUL

Very happy with an away 1-0 win which puts us back into promotion territory. But like ArnieM has already stressed, we need to be at the top of our game in the next few weeks if we are to pick up points against the teams above us. Our defence is obviously really shaky at times, and I just hope none of the other teams manage to exploit that.

As Cornishblue has pointed out, not entertaining football. But we got the result which matters most. We are still hoofing a lot, yes, but it's working. I think MM is doing a terrific job given the resources he has at his disposal. On paper we are a top half team, but he's managed to get us into 6th so that's incredible. Let's hope we stay there!

Always Great to see us win on sky! How can anyone really be upset about us being in 6th after 20 games. I think we are doing well. MM has been here for over 3 years now and some people still seem shocked by his style of football... Very strange. I know some people are bored of hearing that he's on a budget, his recruitments been fantastic, he saved us from relegation, it was our best season in a decade last year.. But here's the thing.. ITS ALL TRUE! COYB!!

The game was, frankly, as dull as the weather but if Freddy and Murph had put their gilt edged chances away we would be looking at a thrashing and saying how wonderful we are. We are in the top six which is a good place to be at this time of the season.

I think only Middlesborough, Derby and Hull are definitely stronger than us, still not convinced about Brighton although will probably be proved wrong. Don't rate Burnley so there's no reason we shouldn't get into the top six.

Great photo.

We could make the playoffs, but we'd need some luck with injuries (Gerken needs to catch the squits every Saturday for example).

Not pretty but 3 points is 3 points and in the top six as well . Wasn't going to be an easy game. MK Dons players were given an ultimatum from their Manager the previous week saying they had 3wks to save their careers. Gerken made some great saves. Great cross from Chambers to Pitman (someone behind me shouted 'crap shot' as Chambers made the cross :) ) . Nice stadium but looked half full. Looked even more empty with all of us stretched along the top tier. Weather was awful. Quick train journey back to London.
