Bru and Oar Back for Fulham Trip
Monday, 14th Dec 2015 14:19

Kevin Bru and Tommy Oar have joined the rest of the squad for the trip to Fulham ahead of Tuesday’s game at Craven Cottage, while manager Mick McCarthy says winger Ryan Fraser is fit enough to start matches and Teddy Bishop continues to make progress. Larsen Touré remains sidelined with a groin injury, however.

Bru has missed the last three games with a hamstring problem, while Oar has been unavailable for the last two matches with a knee injury.

“Kevin Bru’s travelling and Tommy Oar’s travelling,” McCarthy said. “Bish is training and he’s had no complaints about anything, which is great. It’s good to have the two lads back. And everybody’s fine [after Saturday].”

Scotland U21 international Ryan Fraser was back in the squad on Saturday having returned to Town from parent club AFC Bournemouth, where he had undergone his rehab after his knee injury, the day before.

McCarthy says the 21-year-old is fit enough to start games, but hinted that he would be on the bench at Craven Cottage.

“He’s ready to start a game, no question,” the Town boss added. “Watching him, he’s been terrific in training over the last few days.

“Complete 90 minutes? That’s another thing altogether but he can start, he’s sharp and strong enough and completely injury free.

“He’s trained brilliantly. But I’ve just spoken to him and said ‘Look, we’ve been playing well and winning’ and he understands. He’s back and he’s ready to go. If I need him, he can play.”

Larsen Touré is still out with his groin injury but McCarthy says that was to be expected: “Larsen was always going to be three or four weeks, he really hurt his groin. Hopefully he’ll be OK.”

Luke Varney is continuing his comeback from the ruptured achilles he suffered while on loan with the Blues during the play-off semi-final in May.

McCarthy says the 32-year-old, a free agent following his release by Blackburn in the summer, will travel with the squad to Fulham with talks regarding his Town contract continuing.

“They’re ongoing," McCarthy said. "He trained with the first team today and he’s travelling with us today just to come to the game.

“The lads he’d be training with are off tomorrow and then we’ll have a decent group training with on Wednesday.”

Ahhhh how this forum falls for every comment Mick says and takes it literally - incase anyone hasn't worked it out by now Mick keeps everything internal and everything we do externally is " fantastic great " etc.

Ask Mick any question and the interviewer will get nothing. Keane and Jewell would even discuss transfer targets, Mick, nothing.

Was there Saturday and said it should've been Fraser that came on instead of didz. Had it been him that had that run on goal then I'm fairly sure it would've been 2-0. No it wasn't pretty but it was a win.

Think we'd all figured that one out during the Tabb is "different class" statements Currie10. Even the interviews and statements are becoming as methodical and predictable as the football...

Derby, Burnley and Brighton on the horizon. Best we start learning to retain possession otherwise we'll be mid-table come January.

With Bru and Bish back, our midfield will be as strong as any if they are supported by Skuse in a midfield 3.

They guys are our footballers in the middle of the park! Watch out everyone!!

Bohslegend has it spot on. We are up to 6th, grinding out results, have an experienced man manager in MM yet the moaners continue until they see perfection. This league is about endeavour, competitiveness, organisation and putting the ball in the net. Yes we have defensive frailties but progress is being made. It may not be the most entertaining football but then neither are any above us showing real consistent quality. We have a good squad, four very decent strikers, and a midfield that has variety and depth. Get the defence sorted and we will yet challenge the top two. For crying out loud, give credit where it's due.

Bert - I couldn't give a monkey's if we finish in the top two playing the way we are now, the football is diabolical. Every level I've ever played we've been encouraged to play the ball and I encourage youngsters to do the same. The standard of second ball mentality we're playing at the moment is Aidy Boothroyd issue football, which some will pint out hot Waford into the Premier League buts its grim.

I'm not asking for perfection. I'm asking for football.

After Saturday's abomination I can barely bring myself to go tonight.

Bert. Progress isn't being made in defence is it?
