Hyam and Murphy Expected to be Fit for Huddersfield Trip Thursday, 25th Feb 2016 13:51 Town boss Mick McCarthy expects Luke Hyam and Daryl Murphy will be fit for Saturday’s trip to Huddersfield, despite suffering niggles during Tuesday’s 1-0 home defeat to Hull City.
Hyam, who was returning from an earlier calf problem, was replaced in the second half with a hamstring injury but is now on the mend.
“He’s a slight doubt, he’s reported in this morning feeling much better and more optimistic about it,” McCarthy said.
“Having had the fitness test he put a shift in the other night and he just felt fatigued, his hamstring. Hopefully he’ll be OK but we’ll wait and see tomorrow. Murph has just been feeling a bit tight but he should be OK as well.”
Having left on-loan Arsenal youngster Ainsley Maitland-Niles out of the 18 on Tuesday he says the 18-year-old has “trained great today” and outlined the reasons for his omission.
“It was just the fact that I had Larsen Touré fit and I thought if I needed to make an impact perhaps he would do that more as he’s been training really well,” he added.
“It’s been tough for Ainsley, it’s been a long, hard season for him, he’s never had one like this so it’s no surprise that a young lad like that might have a dip in form. But he’s a really good player and he’ll be back with us.”
McCarthy says he’s not quite sure when Cole Skuse will be back from his toe problem: “It’s difficult to tell, bearing in mind it’s a ligament in his toe. He’s started running.
“It’s like any ligament, you can get to the point where you think it’s fine but then you’ve got to go out and kick a ball and tackle and block shots and what have you.
“They said it was going to be four to six weeks and I think that’s what’ll be the case. Whatever it was he’s into his third week. It’ll just take time.
“Fingers crossed, if he’s available for Bolton, Cardiff, Blackburn, Rotherham territory we’d be delighted.”
He says midfielder Giles Coke is still some way off a return from the knee injury he suffered at QPR: “He’s not been out training yet, he’s nowhere near.”
Central defender Piotr Malarczyk, who has had a kidney stone, is also not yet ready to return to the squad.
“We’re talking about a procedure that he has to have done tomorrow which left one or two crossing their legs,” McCarthy revealed. “I’ve asked him if they can film it.”
Ryan Fraser, Teddy Bishop and David McGoldrick all remain sidelined with their hamstring injuries.
Meanwhile, the Blues boss confirmed that he is still looking for loan additions and that there are funds there if he finds someone he wants to bring in, although says that’s not always easy.
“There aren’t too many around that people want to let go,” the Town boss continued. “And if that’s the case we’ll have to make do and mend with what we’ve got and get on with it, like we always do.”

Everyone keeps on Murphy's back, if Messi got the service that Murp gets he would be seen as rubbish to. Got to the stage where i don't really care about how we do at Huddersfield, even if we win it will be rubbish hoofball

Next 2 games will be crucial. Win them both and I suppose with the players we have coming back from injury, we are in with a good shout of the top 6. Lose on Saturday and I think our chances are remote at best

Live the enthusiasm muccletonjoe but its misplaced. We have no hope of top 6 and if by a miracle we scraped in we would be embarrassed by whoever we play !!!

I think that Messi makes his own service !! The times he collects the ball in the centre circle and heads for goal, you do not see him do a lot of defending MM. (nothing to do with us but somebody mentioned him above) so I had a little say ??

Just sack MM and quick.I really have had enough of this rubbish served up by overage rejects.MM is too scared to rock the boat, thus the reason why he won't drop Chambers or Berra. The same with our so called midfield. The bloke is now a waste of space and should walk before we stagnate even further.Surely the owner can see this with dwindling gates and restless supporters,he only has to read these posts.I rest my case, once again.

Essexboy and replace with who exactly? Granted mick has his faults and at times is his own worst enemy with selection etc. But the fact of the matter is we punched above our weight last season and same with this season. Things are dire at the moment granted but all is not lost if we can string a few wins together. We did need to strengthen in January but for that I blame Evans and Milne. I

Essex57 and derby123.Those are my opinions, and according to a great deal of posts on this forum.Somebody has to make a stance and be the bad boy then so be it.We should stop papering over the cracks. The football is terrible and we have not improved at all and if your happy with that then so be it ,but I am not.I have been a season ticket holder for over 40 years and followed the club through thick and thin and will carry on doing so but what I'm seeing now is not good for this club.Something has to give and it should be the management. Are you REALLY both happy with the progress of this club and it's style of football.Be honest with yourselves.

Essexboy I accept what we are given as an evolution of our club it's not always good but by god it could be a lot worse looking at the lovely lush green grass on the the other side of the fence has been the downfall of many previous great clubs with tradition ambition etc etc.
