McGoldrick Delighted to Be Back Tuesday, 5th Apr 2016 12:25 Striker David McGoldrick was delighted to get back into first-team action during the closing stages of Saturday’s 0-0 draw at Wolves, having been sidelined since mid-December with a hamstring injury.
The 28-year-old came on in the 87th minute at Molineux as the Blues looked for the winning goal that their performance deserved.
“It was great to be back out there, even though it was only a cameo appearance,” the Republic of Ireland international told the club site. “But, it felt great to be a part of things again.
“I’ve had a torrid time with injuries recently, so it was great to be involved. Obviously I would have liked to have played longer but that’s down to the gaffer and he knows best. I’m sure my chance will come.
“My fitness is feeling good, I’ve been training for around four weeks now — I just need to get that match sharpness back.
“That will come though and the gaffer will get me back in when he feels the time is right.
“I’m back now and the smile is back on my face. Now I just want to play my part and hopefully help the boys get into the play-offs.”
McGoldrick and midfielder Teddy Bishop, who is yet to play a first-team game this season, will be on the bench this evening when Town take on Charlton at Portman Road.

Love it - Now play the attack creative players for rest of the season WE HAVE NOTHING TO LOSE AND ALL TO GAIN - Bru , Foley , Pringle and Feeney Sears and Dids would be great 6 with Bish and Dozzell on the bench ! We have to play on the front foot

Excellent boost to have both McGoldrick and Bishop in contention for the remainder of the season - we'll need them to have any chance at all of making the playoffs now. (whether they'll be up to pace with the playing the hoof approach is another thing).

It is a great boost to have didsy and bishop back!! Didsy is a different type of striker to the others we have, and the best technically too! We have missed his spark! Fingers crossed his recent injuries haven't affected him too much, like we have seen with so many players who come back from long term injuries

What is there to lose by getting our best attacking talent on the pitch for as long as possible. Yes I know we might miss out on a precious point sometimes because we are after all three but hey, it would be better than continuing to grind out boring draws or defeats. On the other hand he'll have to leave out midfielders who contribute nothing from a creative perspective, so I won't be expecting it to happen!
