Pitman Out for 10 Weeks
Tuesday, 27th Sep 2016 22:55

Town boss Mick McCarthy has revealed that striker Brett Pitman is facing 10 weeks out with the ankle injury he suffered at Leeds on Saturday. The Blues manager doesn’t expect to have any of his currently injured players back for this weekend’s game at home to Huddersfield.

“No, no chance,” he said. “Adam [Webster] won’t be, Pits is going to be 10 weeks with his ankle, he’s done a ligament in his ankle.

“He’s going to be six weeks in a boot and two weeks of that will be on crutches, so that was grim reaper news this morning.

“Didzy, no, he’ll be back after the break, we’re probably looking at Newcastle, something like that.

“Luke Hyam is progressing, but none of them for Saturday. What we have is what we go with.”

Jonny Williams won’t be fit until after the international break, although is training, while Tommy Smith (back surgery), Luke Varney (hamstring), Giles Coke (knee) and Adam McDonnell complete the injury list.

no problem. We have plenty of quality strikers who hit the net regularly. 3 goals in our last 10 games!

We were crying out for a replacement for Murphy and it never came. Imagine if Best gets injured now. Who will we play up front? Dozzell? Bishop? Very easy now for the opposition to neutralise our attacking potential.

@PJewellisaGod
Coke is out with RSI. Repetitive Sidepass Injury.
It's an ailment nearly all of our midfield suffer with.

The problem is we knew there would be no loan window. We knew McGoldrick was injured. We signed two cheap options in Best/Varney knowing they have a poor injury record and weren't match fit. We knew Sears was out of form. Yet Marcus and Mick thought it would be a good idea to leave us short of strikers by selling Murphy without having a replacement lined up. It's rank bad management.

Good job we didn't waste Murphy money on a replacement then !

Signing 4 strikers who are injury prone and don't complete full seasons Dids, Varney, Best , Pitman and then ruining another striker by playing him as a covering left back and you really wonder why we don't score goals ?
Total bad management as Jas has stated

We'll miss Pitman's goals whilst he's not playing, that's for sure. Just as we've missed them whilst he's been playing.

Cant see what the problem is. We already play with 8 defenders a couple more is not going to make much difference.

Ok. Bottom line. Evans won't spend - he gets his money from us for the loan so why bother. SorrY - NOT MY TYPE OF OWNER.

We're run by accountants. Sell Murphy (get money) and get a play area before the game in exchange (makes money).

B***er that - With Pits out and Murphy sold we're 20 goals a season down.

Should we go for a name change to Ipswich Town LTD and just drop the Football Club element altogether ?

Gone and shot ourselves in the foot, crazy selling Murphy without having someone lined up to replace him.

This is gonna be a terrible next 2-2 1/2 months.

Maybe a chance for Morris or McLoughlin to make an impression or even Dozzell to get more game time.

I find it encouraging that MM still has a competitive team considering all our injuries.
Great chance now for the youngsters

Known as the tractor boys we shall certainty reap what we have sown this time. Poor planning in terms of the strikers brought in leads to poor results simple as that.

Brian when have any youngsters been given a run in the first team under MM ? Dozzell did very well at the end of last season and is now behind Skuse/ Douglas/ Bru/ Varney etc Bishop hasn't started a game in central midfield this season ? Emmanuel only played last night due to 2 injuries not ability .
I find your loyalty to MM obviously due to some Irish connection admirable but in reality we are not a competitive team we are low mid table very average team who merely try to stop all other teams playing any sort of football and offer very little ourselves , only game again last night with no goals again

Surco72, I know what your saying, and I agree that we are a very average and limited team.
I would say most teams (barring Newcastle/ Norwich) are fairly even and mostly bang average. When I say competitive I mean that we gives teams a tough game and do not generally roll over regardless of our lack of attacking abilities/ options. For the current time, its our best way to find points

MM has given games consistantly to Bish when available. Knudsen I would also class as youngster. Dont forget Mings was a first teamer under MM too and Hyam when he is fit.
MM does gives youth a chance if they fit the system and tactics.
As for Dozzell, he has massive potential but needs to be managed carefully. Unfortunately I think Dozzell struggles to fit in to MM current plan A system/ tactics when the full squad is available.

Im hoping, like everyone, that MM will use the youngsters a bit more from now on and adapt the the style of play that helps them perform. BUT I think that the spine needs to be remain strong and competitive to allow the youngsters that platform and confidence to show their abilities. Otherwise it wouldn't do the team or the players any favors. I think Dozzell could be a good option/ sub for Lawrence in that role behind Best. I think this change in system (4-4-1-1, could actually help Dozzell and I wouldnt be surprised if this is how MM & TCs way are attempting to integrate Dozzell in to the first team in the medium/ log term.

Yes, some of my greatest footballing memories involve MM as player and manager of Ireland. His handling of "the Dark One" at 2002 world cup a particular highlight :)

I imagine 2002 was probably the last time Mick McCarthy put out a proper line up for a cup match of any description! :-)
