McCarthy Hopeful on Early January Addition Thursday, 29th Dec 2016 14:11 Town boss Mick McCarthy is hoping to make an addition to his squad early in January but wouldn’t comment on links with Fulham striker Cauley Woodrow.
“Hopefully, yes. I hope so,” McCarthy said when asked if there might be a new signing in time for the Lincoln City or Blackburn Rovers games soon after the transfer window opens.
The Blues were reported to be keen to sign Woodrow on a six-month loan yesterday, but when quizzed McCarthy wouldn’t comment: “I haven’t read it. He’s not my player so I won’t talk about him. That’s unfair.”
Town defender Adam Webster has also been the subject of speculation with Sunderland and Everton among the clubs to have been linked with the centre-half, but McCarthy says he has no plans to cash in on the 21-year-old.
“I wouldn’t look to sell him at all, I’ve no desire to sell him,” he said. “We bought him and I think we nicked him from under the noses from some who dawdled and didn’t do it and we’ve got a really good player, one that I think the team should be built around, not to be taken away.
“He’s a terrific talent and he’s only going to get better. But I’m not surprised [clubs have been linked] because you’ve heard me wax lyrical about him and I guess the one thing I do know about is centre-halves, if nothing else.”
If a Premier League club were to offer a very significant fee for the former Portsmouth man might Town then be tempted? “You’d have to ask [owner] Marcus [Evans] that.”
As previously reported, Pompey are entitled to 20 per cent of the profit the Blues would make on Webster if he were to be sold.

Leedsblye1.... I wrote to r the club asking them to stop sending emails about tickets and half season ticket promotions until a number of my questions were answered regarding the management style etc . But failed to get a reply from anyone although the emails have stopped !!!!!

Like any sensible Ipswich fan, I don't want ANY money to be given to McCarthy for further underwhelming signings : McCarthy needs to be given the bullet and his replacement can then spend whatever funds may be available. As to tomorrow's game, I'm convinced we will win that, because that's the way the pattern keeps repeating in order to prevent the Marcus Evans Group from doing what it needs to do. Let's have no more talk of replacing McCarthy with someone equally inept like McCarthy-Lite (Rowett) or Pardew please. I would favour an up and coming young manager from further down the pyramid, but have no-one specific in mind. Another journeymanager won't cut it.

I cannot believe there are still.some tools on here sticking up for the cowardly dinosaur. Please feel free to stick up for him after reading the following: Chambers at rightback for 4 years at the expense of Parr and now Emanuel. Knudsens nailed on selection despite being poor defensively, poor distrubution, never overlaps and cant cross a ball. Smith and Berra next to each other for 3 years when both left footed. Made Smith look bad when not his fault. Constant use of 2 defensive midfielders even at home. First Hyam and Skuse and now Skuglas. Signing and then picking Douglas as many times as he has when everyone can see he contributes zero. Freddie Sears being turned into a poor winger when he was a hungry goalscoring striker when he signed. Grant Ward had an attacking mindset when he signed, its been trained out of him now. Dull negative tactics week after week, lump lump lump to Murphy even after Murphy had gone. Letting Varney go cus he wasnt good enough and then bringing him back, ridiculous. 2014-15 we could have gone up automatically but he bottled it. Attacking 4-3-3 for 2 months goin at teams and destroying them, we got dominated at Southampton in the cup who were top 3 in the prem at the time and the coward in him came rushing to the surface and we reverted to a boring negative 4-4-2 for the rest of the season trying to scrape draws and only made the play offs cus Derby blew it in a game they should have won. This is a man who tried his hardest to keep Gerken in over Bart. Im saying no more on that. He destroys the youngsters confidence by dropping them after playing well to accomodate his favourites. Even his substitutions are based on keeping his mates in the starting line up for the next game. The only success in Micks time with us was Tyrone Mings.Webster is also a prospect. Teams find it so easy to play against us its laughable. They make a beeline for Chambers every game, and it works, he gets ripped to pieces. Then theres his arrogant told you so attitude. We can go 5 games without a win playing the same team but if we win the 6th game theres always a back handed dig at the fans as if to say i got it right. He forgets the 5 previous games.Arrogance. This man needs to go now.We are degrading every game. No atmosphere, crowds getting smaller and smaller, when will it end. Just when will it end.......

An online petition to get rid of Mick!!! Oh dear how embarrassing. Sign of the times I guess but when we wanted Duncan gone we ran on the pitch and had a proper demonstration. Personally I quite like Mick but each to their own. No money and little support from Evans and Milne. players also need to man up and be counted but far easier to blame the manager. Anyway I am not here to Argue. Let's hope we win tomorrow - COYB

Of course you know about centre backs ..... you know nowt about entertainment . Dull boring defensive skill-less football and pathetic post match excuses. How about asking Evans for money to recruit better footballers ?
Miles added 02:25 - Dec 30
If we sack Mick I genuinely think we will get relegated. The only reason we have been able to get anywhere near the playoffs in recent seasons is because of Mick. We just have the most fickle fans in English football and that's what is truly embarrassing!
GiveusaWave added 04:35 - Dec 30
To be fair I think we need to hold off judgement until we see who Mick signs in the transfer window. Not that I have much hope...... And for those downmarking Miles, he may prove to be right. He's scouted these players, chosen them, and trained them to play in a particular manner. A new coach may expect to try out new tactics with disastrous consequences. Is the new coach going to get any money? I don't think so. I do think MIck needs to go....but I think our future is grim and grinding regardless.
