Town Among Clubs Linked With Bristol Rovers Striker
Wednesday, 25th Jan 2017 15:23

Town, Brentford and Wolves are all reported to have been keeping tabs on Bristol Rovers striker Matty Taylor.

According to the Bristol Post, all three Championship clubs have sent representatives to watch the 26-year-old on a number of occasions in recent weeks.

No bids have been received but the League One club are said to be bracing themselves for interest ahead of Tuesday’s 11pm deadline.

According to previous unconfirmed reports, the new two-year contract Taylor signed with Rovers in the summer includes a £300,000 release clause and that Sheffield Wednesday, Norwich City and Queens Park Rangers are also among the interested clubs.

Taylor started his career with Oxford United but made only a handful of sub appearances before dropping into non-league, where he scored 80 goals in two seasons for Southern League South and West Division side North Leigh and won himself a move to Forest Green Rovers.

After a spell on loan at Chester, the 5ft 9in tall frontman moved to the Memorial Stadium on a free transfer in the summer of 2014.

Since then he has scored 67 goals in 111 starts and 20 sub appearances for Rovers during their climb from the Vanarama National League to League One in successive seasons.

Capped twice for the England C team, Taylor scored 28 times last season and has already amassed 19 goals during 2016/17.

Very good player, would be a very good coup if we could pull it off.

Ok if true and we make a play fair do's lets give it a go! But don't a lower amount than the market value just to say look we tried and they said no!! To be honest seen us linked with maybe up to 10 players last couple weeks but until it happens i'll have no excitement yet.

Yes the lad has scored a lot of goals , but he is a one trick pony , yes it's a good trick , but he will add little to the overall performance of the team .
Scores when things are going well disappears when there not .
Not for this team I feel

Must be approaching about 20 players linked now.

Yet we've signed a RB unable to get into an MK Dons side, loaned another DCM that cannot get into a Championship XI and a National League striker.

Brill.

Would certainly be a very good signing.

FINALLY!!!

Proven goalscorer which we have been missing, different player to Murphy but will fit into the style of play that we the fans have been desperately crying out for!

If he is available for 300k. pay the money get him signed and don't miss out.

For a guy in the League below with a record like that 300k is an absoloute steal

Would be a good signing ..though we'll still struggle for goals if we can't get the ball to a player in a goal scoring position (Not flying at/over his head with his back to the goal and not blue shirt in the opposition half)

We will see, chances are we wont get him anyway *sigh*

Remember our last Bristol Rovers striker?
Perhaps he could have a word.

Not a chance.....happy to give odds ! Unless ME is now genuinely worried about relegation.....and he should be. This so-called-football gonna cost you one in the end ME. You may not care about our Club they way many (potentially protesting) supporters do, and why should you, but that reality just might get your attention.

Certainly being linked with a lot of players, and know we have had several rejections;but still no marquee signing with only a week to go.

I remain hopeful though, but am a bit concerned that hardly any midfielders in these rumours, as I think this is one of the problems not playing through midfield thereby starving the strikers

When i looked quickly at the picture i thought he was Adam Lallana. Can dream i suppose.

Further to the above, talking about marquee signings Emmanuel Adebyor is still unattached after leaving Crystal Palace in the summer. He reckons he is gifted lol !!!

I used to work with Matty and I'll be suprised if he came to us. I have however sent him a message saying sign for us haha! I'll report back when he gets back to me.

He is in the same mold as Sears. He is not a target man, but he does know where the goal is. Do we need two? Only get him in if we are thinking of off-loading Sears

Linked with, interested in, looking at, in the running for, watching...... we hear the same rhetoric every transfer window, & then we get let down & end up signing a loan, a free transfer of someone no one has ever heard of, don't get me wrong, would be a great signing, but I'll save my enthusiasm for when he's holding up a town shirt...... #itfcdecline #evanssellitfc #mccarthyout
