Town top scorer Tom Lawrence missed out on the Championship Player of the Month award for January with former Blues loanee Chris Wood of Leeds carrying off the gong.

Lawrence was nominated alongside Wood, another ex-Town loan player, Brighton keeper David Stockdale, and Cardiff midfielder Joe Ralls.

Wood and Lawrence both netted six goals during January but two of Lawrence’s were in the FA Cup rather than the Championship. Reading boss Jaap Stam was named the Manager of the Month.

hoppy added 09:38 - Feb 10 Shame not to get that recognition for Lawrence on a personal level for him, but ultimately, it doesn't really matter. I can see why they've gone for Wood, as when I've seen Leeds playing recently, they seem to have stepped up a gear and Wood has been a big part of that, in a similar way to how Murphy was doing for us a couple of seasons ago.

The chances of him staying with us seem remote as I would imagine he has some larger interests, but he is blossoming in Ipswich so you never know!
