Veteran Blackburn Defender Linked
Thursday, 18th May 2017 16:48

Veteran central defender Gordon Greer, who is leaving Blackburn this summer, is the latest player to be linked with the Blues along with a number of other clubs.

According to Teamtalk, recently relegated Rovers want to keep the 36-year-old, despite the Lancastrians announcing his release earlier today.

They also claim Town, Burton, Bradford, Bolton, Hibernian, Hearts and former club Kilmarnock are also keen on signing the Glasgow-born defender.

Greer moved to Ewood Park last summer having left Brighton after six years. The 11-times-capped Scotland international has also spent time with Clyde, Stockport County (loan), Doncaster and Swindon.

While the Blues will almost certainly look to add to their centre-halves this summer with Christophe Berra having departed, they’re more likely to target a left-sided player to compete with Tommy Smith rather than another experienced right footer with skipper Luke Chambers, Adam Webster and Steven Taylor, who has been invited back for pre-season, all right-sided.

Why not? Get the young lad in I say.
Hes exactly the the young up and coming talent that Evans spoke about signing in his 5 point plan. And he did so well keeping Blackburn up.

3 stooges out.

I would like to think this is just another non story, of which there will be many over the summer.

The trouble is things are so bad at our club these days I wouldn't be at all surprised if it happened!

At last, a plausible transfer rumour.

Mind you, there's quite a few clubs interested, so by no means a formality.

Has he ever achieved the giddy heights of hitting the post when playing against us?

Why not go for Larry Lloyd to bolster our leaking defence? He looks in good shape these days 😟😏

If this is true then every town supporter should find it offensive. Its time McCarthy packed his bags.Next we'll find out signed on to play next season Himself. Why he doesn't deny these reports as soon as. They appear to stop himself being aged I. Do not know.

he's only 36, a year or 2 in the youth team and then a 3 year deal 'diiferent class Dougie' style is the way forward here

............. just do the sensible thing and cancel your direct debits - if indeed you ever believed enough that things would change - and renewed your Season Tickets.

Waste of time and money.

FFS. I despair. We said nothing would change under this regime. Things look like getting worse not better. Terry Butcher, ever thought about making a comeback, MM might give you a trial to prove your fitness. As for Taylor, get him out the club. We need players we can depend on when called upon, not players that break down because their bodies can no longer take it. Evans for god sake get a grip man or sell the club to someone who does care!

Sorry, but really sounds like the kind of player we are likely to sign. If we do, demonstrates our ambitions next season.

He was a good player a few years back, but looks really short of pace in the Championship. Good head on him and tactically astute, but opposition strikers will outpace him far too easily leading to constant shots against us. When we have the ball, could prove useful. Able to head ball well to own team players and passes the ball on the ground. But when we haven't got the ball he'd be a huge liability. No thanks. Not one for the future either.

** THE '(UN)RELIABLE' MZT RUMOR MILL PRESENTS: THE VERY LATEST ON MICK **

Alrighteeee you to use some wildly "(UN)popular" @tony88 lingo: clinically depressed ultra repetitive moaning morons (no real offense @tony88 lol) or to use my own words: "merely" slightly overboard (but for good historical based reasons!) Zzzkeptical sounding ITFC fans, I got some very **exclusive** news on the Dino McCarthy!

As it happened I was simply too worried for my dear old but nowadays also very very moribund-looking football club to just complete let Smirky Yorkshire Mick "off the hook" on his awesome holiday .... so in pure desperation I ehmmmm hired a paparazzi to follow him around, from a distance of course!, and I now I hold in my sweaty & KFC-greased hands his very 1st bulletin!

It landed in my E-mail-box this morning, in 128-bit encrypted super secure form of course, but ehmmm the IT-stupid paparazzi must partly have fooked-up the encryption on his end somehow cause all I get when I use my "key" is one single photo (with some added-on drawing on it) but no accompanying info as I was promised???!!!Hence I've been forced to using my -- drum roll please -- exquisite 'Sherlockian Deductive Powers' once again :-), and this it what I have come up with:

Now I'll initially let you all know that there is an in fact quite a lot of "Ernie's Auto Body Shops" or "Ernie's Auto Glass Shops" on this Lonely Planet! but I gather this one in question could well be the one in Hamilton, Ontario .... if for no other super shrewd P.E. reason then just simply because I've personally set foot in that very area on a trip to see Niagara Falls some years back! lol

And thus I hereby assume that a notably DISTRAUGHT Mick went there (i.e. Ontario) to do some soul-searching & try to figure out why ohhhh why! it is he is such a profound fan-deterring & inherently unentertaining travesty of a 'Modern Day' & offensive-minded football manager!!!

....And having landed in Toronto I gather he then rented a 4-wheel driving pick-up truck for the likely purpose of doing some 'Dino-off-roading' in lovely Ontario ... but as he reached the outskirts of Hamilton he suddenly saw **THIS** here local unique & extremely clever (i.e. "Headlight Alignment Our Speciality! LOL) road advertisement sign -- as encircled on the photo by my paparazzi -- immediately proceeded to from a male POV = quite naturally STARING fixedly at those delightful ripe 'knockers' in the center of said advertisement .... apparently a little too intensely and for a little too long .... resulting in him losing control of the vehicle and as also encircled by the paparazzi first making some very notable skid-marks on the tarmac then 'hood-poppingly' crashing it "gently" up against the nearest house' exterior wall .... on the freakin' opposite side of the road???!!!

So there you have it, a completely believable TRUE STORY .... but like 'Porky Pig' says in end of them classic cartoons "THAT'S ALL FOLKS" .... until yours truly get another bulletin that is! .... As otherwise I can only succumb to speculate even more WILDLY! :-) on what has happened to the poor distraught Dino!

Have Knudsen and Smith compete for LCB. Knudsen is a better centre half than he is left back. And have kenlock and nydam compete for LB. sign a quality RB in the mould of Huddersfields Tommy Smith.

Deep joy. Can just see him a Taylor at centre back on their zimmer frames. I just hope these are just rumours.

I think Lloyd Doyley is available as well now, what a defensive combo that would be !!!
