“We are delighted here at the club to be hosting one of the biggest entertainers in the world in Sir Elton John,” Town MD Ian Milne told the club site.
“I’m sure it will be a fantastic occasion for the thousands who will be at Portman Road on the night.”
The former Watford chairman previously played to a crowd of around 23,000 at Portman Road in June 2004.

Don't tell me that ITFC are even having problems selling tickets for pop concerts now;but as Johnno said at 70 Elton is a bit long in the tooth for the youngsters.
Someone like Ariana Grande or Ed Sheeran would sell out in a day, whilst Mr John(Elton not Cobbold) has been advertised for what seems like getting on for 3 months.
I understand that Ed is happy to play at Portman Rd;but the Club has been unable to fit him in;just like they were unable to fit in the various Suffolk Cup ties at the end of last season, all of which went to the Col U ground except one.Oh and the forthcoming pre-season friendlies, which are all away!
I heard Ed on the local radio and he said he could not play Portman Rd because of contractual issues with his other gigs which prevented him from being able to appear.
I don't think its anything to do with the Club. I am sure they would have moved heaven and earth to have him if he were available.
Michael11 He can't do any worse than Stern John! ;-) Whatever was Keane thinking of playing Stern John in favour of Rhodes or Wickham! He said there wasn't room for both Wickham and Rhodes in the same team so flogged Rhodes on the cheap! I wouldn't of minded seeing those two team up together up front, it could of been devastating! When Keane got Stern John in he'd scored something like 1 goal in his last 40 or 50 matches I think (how bad is that!), he'd clearly totally lost it by then! As had Keane!
