McCarthy Surprised Bru Yet to Find a Club
Monday, 14th Aug 2017 19:33

Town boss Mick McCarthy says he’s surprised Kevin Bru is yet to find a club, reiterating that the Mauritius international remains firmly out of his plans despite the current dearth of fit midfielders.

Bru, 28, who was told he could move on if he could find a club in May, has said he is considering options from clubs in France and elsewhere.

“There’s no point me going back to Kev,” McCarthy said. “Kev’s great, comes in and trains. He wants to leave now, we’re trying to help him to leave.

“With Tom Adeyemi, Emyr Huws, forgetting about the youngsters for a minute, Skusey, Teddy Bishop, hopefully he’ll get fit, we’ve got a really solid midfield.

“And the two young ‘uns have just given everybody something to think about, Tristan Nydam and Flynn Downes.

“So it’s time for him to go and find something else. He knows that, he’ll get something I’m sure. I’m surprised he hasn’t, to be honest.”

Paris-born Bru, who qualifies for Mauritius via his parents, made 59 starts and 35 sub appearances for the Blues, scoring four goals.

Anyone remember Chris Bart-Williams? Did a solid job. No point to my comment, none at all.

Seems strange he is so adamant he won't play?

Bru hasn't pushed on. One who needs to go if we are serious about moving on. Average.

Completely agree with mick on this.

I feel like Rotherham should take a punt on him. That sort of side. Or maybe a Bradford city.

i really like Bru. It's such a shame that we didn't have a system or a confidence that would have allowed this style of player to thrive. It's probably too rough a league for him anyway, but when there was a real cohesion between players (playoffs) he showed real quality, as did Sears. We haven't had that since, due to injury and lack of spending i guess, so it's time for him to move on.

Cheers Kevin

p.s. stick around a couple more months because we are dropping like flies. You could get some minutes yet.

Whatever your views posters do need to have half an eye on being respectful.

Poor comment when all you do is swear at others regardless of what they have said.

Same old same old when a player is told he is not needed, fans then start saying how crap he is etc. I think he did a decent job in a team that was playing the worst football of my 30+ years as a supporter. Be respectful folk, he wore the shirt of our club and deserves some respect. I hope he gets sorted.

I get it..

According to some we should 'be respectful' to players who wore the shirt(which I agree with by the way & in Bru's case already have on the site) but be disrespectful(sorry abusive) to people who follow the club but have a different view on this topic?

Strange but anyway let's move on. Big game tonight COYB!

I'll always remember the absolute screamer he scored at Bolton away in the 2015/16 season! I was there that night due to being just down the road in Wolves for work anyway, gutted we messed it up and only managed a draw.

I think he'd do a good job for a league 1 or 2 team, maybe Colchester so he doesn't even have to move house, his dog is just getting used to finding it's way home!

I'll miss the chants of BRUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU confusing the away fans into thinking we're booing for no reason! haha

P.S. Anyone else see that retirement ad at the top of the screen and think the guy on the beach is Steve Bruce?

To be fair to Kevin, said the other day that it wouldn't hurt to put him in the under 23's;which would improve their team at the same time as putting him in the 'shop window'.

This could prove beneficial to the club as it would facilitate a move before the window closes, and save the club 3 months wages.
