He was useless anyway, never wanted him back. I far prefer Danny Rowe.

Still not that convinced he was that's amazing, just had a hell of a shot on him, scored some wonder goals, £5 mill though of his age and potential is a bargain though, he will do well there

The only thing Derby are good at is spending loads of money , still won't make the play-offs!

Big fish in a small pond last season! Reckon Leicester should give us 50% as a good willl gesture, as we launched him so to speak!!

He was certainly no Lee Martin...

Very good player but 7 mil on one player does not get you out this league as they have found in past

Same we didn't have 7 million laying around.

How can they spend so much money every year?

And there I was thinking Lawrence was heading for a move to one of the lesser lights in the Premiership.

Very good player and worth what someone is prepared to pay. However, way above our budget and never really likely he'd return. Let's move on.

It would have made sense for him to go somewhere like Newcastle, but you can't dictate who will come in for you. I'm sure a permanent deal from us was never on the cards at that price.

FFP lol.

theblueginger - Derby have made £19m from three transfers this summer (Ince, Hughes and Christie) and signed £9.5m's worth. FFP not an issue.

Yes he did well for us but was the fact we were crap, that he looked so good?

Tommy served us well including scoring some great goals while he was here. But realistically never a permanent prospect for us.

Good point blue ginger. Has anyone worked out Derby's FFP calculation? They are not getting parachute payments.

I see that Green Army has answered my question. Thanks

It astonishes me that so many teams can splash so much cash in this division.

Can understand clubs just coming down from the Prem with the parachute money;but don't think Derby are in that position, and they have spent loads of money(don't have Harry Enfield as a backer do they lol )?

I know that the FFP criteria has been relaxed over the past couple of seasons;but does it still exist? If so how are Bristol City,Wolves and Derby to name just three;alowed to spend so much?

Have now read GreenArmy's post thanks;but what about the other two clubs mentioned, plus several more?

Really don't wanna sound like sour grapes....but.....

Tom Lawrence - The outside opinion
A top class player who single handedly kept Town in this division last season with his spectacular goal scoring ability and driving midfield performances.

Tom Lawrence - Reality

A player that went most of the first half of last season fairly anonymous until an approximately 8 or 9 game spell around the turn of the year, during which everything he hit seemed to end up in the top corner. This run came to an end when he was suspended due to his own poor discipline when he was required for some big games. Then never really recaptured that form again after the suspension.

As for the money, 7 million for Tom Lawrence or Huws, Garner, Adeyemi, Spence and Waghorn with 4 or 5 million change......As MM would say, No Brainer.

I know Derby sold Will Hughes for £8M and Tom Ince for near £10M so that's where some of the money has come from for Lawrence, but Derby always seem to be involved with BIG transfers going out and coming in!?!...so does initially make you think where they're getting the lolly from.

Good luck Tom. A great player who I'm sure will get a good reception when we play them. Now we have Garner and Waghorn though, Lawrence seems a long time ago.

Leicester do not see him as a Premier League player, and although seven million seems alot, look at some of the other transfers in the Championship. He did a good job for us but never going to be a permanent signing given the price. Good luck to him except when Derby play us.
