Celina Pleased to Play 90 Minutes and Score First Goal
Wednesday, 23rd Aug 2017 16:32

Loanee Bersant Celina was pleased to play the full 90 minutes and score his first Blues goal in last night’s 2-1 Carabao Cup defeat at Crystal Palace, a recurrent illness having hampered the start of his spell at Portman Road.

The 20-year-old, who is with the Blues for the season from Manchester City, initially picked up the bug shortly after joining up with Town at the start of July when he missed the opening pre-season friendly at Drogheda.

The Kosovo international, who was brought up in Norway, subsequently suffered a number of relapses and last night’s appearance was only his second since the start of the season, the first having come in the 2-0 Carabao Cup first round victory at Luton, when he created the opening goal for David McGoldrick.

"I was happy to get 90 minutes, and hopefully I won't get ill again so I can focus on working hard," Celina told the club website.

"The illness really took it out of me and I was ill about five times in six or seven weeks, so it's been really hard for me, but I'm confident I can get a run in the team soon."

Reflecting on his goal, he added: "I was happy to score at Palace. It was great play from Ben [Morris] to see that I was in the box and play it across to me, so it was an easy finish in the end. I know that I will get a chance to play, so I just need to take it.”

Celina, who spent last season on loan with FC Twente in Holland, is likely to be among the subs when Town take on Fulham at Portman Road on Saturday.

From what I've seen he's capable to be in that 1st team, seems to track back and do the dirty work too and with his flashes of quick touches and change of speed, he maybe become a very important player for us come to the end of the seaon, either as an impact player or a solid starter. Lets Hope!

Bersant will have an impact this season I have no doubt.
We are blessed with a plethora of talent at present and long may it continue.
We can shake this division up.
COME ON YOU BLUES!!!!!

Think you will see him replace sears eventually, as much as I love 4 strikers on the pitch, 3 and an attacking winger is more balanced and by the little of what I've seen, he seems very talented, I do like sears and no one can fault his displays or work rate

What *is* this terrible illness that has been affecting the club? I've never heard of anything like it...

This kid is light years ahead of Sears in ability & if he can prove he can do the dirty work as well then he must start wide left. If we continue to play 2 strikers in the wide positions then someone (better than we've played so far) is going to take all the chances we seem to be offering up and give us a real wake up call. Make the change before you're forced into it Mick. What does Freddie give to the team that this kid can't? Sears can then cover for the 3 strikers and I think the team will have a better balance between defence & attack. Fulham totally outplayed us at FPR last year and although they've not started well are a huge threat to our 100% record. Freshen it up Mick.

Why ask he to freshen it up , with what .
The lad will get his chance , he can play an u23 game for game time and be ready to go after the international break. Unless of course he is called up

I think he has a lot of potential. In the first half at Palace he looked iffy, trying to do skills where he should of passed it/hoofed it, he gave the ball away way too often and his passing was dreadful. In the second half he looked a lot better and he showed his ability. He was very quick, skillful and he got himself a goal. Bersant has a lot of potential and ability and he will be a fantastic player one day. He will definitely benefit from playing consistently and with better players around him. He could be fantastic for us and I hope he is.

He sounds like a promising signing. It looks as if he offers a lot going forward. Hope to see him on the bench against Fulham. [ And maybe come off it]. Remember, it only takes Sears to be injured and Celina is in the team. However, I don't particularly want any more injured players, especially Sears.

Has to play over Sears. When the matches get tougher (top 10 sides) we'll need more than just energy.. Like the look of this kid

Think we'll see him replace Sears soon enough. As brilliant as Freddie is for his work rate and selflessness for the team, he's so obviously out of position. Celina got his goal by timing his run and being in the right place at the right time. Sears just doesn't have the positional sense to do the same when playing on the wing. I'd still love to see Sears down the middle where he runs defenders ragged with his pace.
