McDonnell on Target Again
Saturday, 7th Oct 2017 18:17

On-loan Blues midfielder Adam McDonnell netted for the second game running as Aldershot drew 3-3 away at Maidenhead in the Vanarama National League.

The 20-year-old, who scored his first senior goal since his Shelbourne debut in July 2014 in Tuesday’s 1-1 home draw with Dagenham and Redbridge, headed the Shots’ second of the game three minutes before half-time to give them a 2-1 lead. The Irishman was subbed on 74.

Blues defender George Fowler, who like McDonnell recently had his loan at Aldershot extended until the end of the month, was an unused sub.

Elsewhere, striker Kieffer Moore was subbed in injury time having been unable to add to his nine goals for the season as Rotherham won 1-0 at Rochdale.

The 25-year-old remains League One's joint-top scorer along with former Blues Brett Pitman, who yesterday was named the division's Player of the Month for September, and Jack Marriott, these days with Portsmouth and Peterborough respectively.

Right-back Josh Emmanuel, who like Moore is on loan with the Millers for the season but with Town able to cut the spell short in January, was an unused sub.

Central defender Chris Smith played the full 90 minutes as his loan club Chelmsford beat Eastbourne Borough 5-2 at the Melbourne Stadium in the National League South

I agree chrisswailes and I would imagine the chap is disheartened.
I think he could have slotted in at right back for us as he was beginning to show much promise.
Loan moves can kick start careers but can also destroy them. Let us hope it is not the latter for Emmanuel.

Another really good performance from Adam McDonnell today and another goal. He is playing with confidence and can really pick out a pass and is not afraid to shoot. This loan spell is doing him the world of good and am sure he will push on from here.

Re Emmanuel, he missed a month or so with a toe injury but started the Checkatrade Trophy match in midweek.

Adam seems to have found scoring touch and long may it continue and that he forces MM to take notice.
