McLoughlin Rejoins Bromley on Loan
Tuesday, 20th Mar 2018 19:41

Blues youngster Shane McLoughlin has rejoined Vanarama National League Bromley on loan for the remainder of the season.

Versatile McLoughlin, 21, who has played up front, in midfield and at right-back for the Blues’ U23s this season, made seven appearances while on loan with the Ravens this time last season.

The former Republic of Ireland U18 international, whose Town contract is up at the end of the season, has made one senior appearance for the Blues, in the Carabao Cup match at Crystal Palace in August.

McLoughlin, who is ineligible for the FA Trophy with Bromley having reached the semi-finals, came off the bench in the 63rd minute in this evening's 2-0 defeat at Solihull Moors, while Blues defender Luke Woolfenden played the full 90 minutes.

The 19-year-old, who has been at Hayes Lane since the end of December, was making his 12th Lilywhites appearance, having scored one goal.

I cant help thinking that a 21 year old going on loan to a non league club indicates he is very unlikely to be given a new contract at Ipswich. Just hope one day we can get ourselves in Wolves position where they loan a young right back to a Championship club. That will indicate a bright future.

I agree rfretwell. I have no faith in our clubs end results with our youngsters.
How many of them get an extended chance in the first team? Over the past few seasons not many.
A classic example bring Josh Emmanuel who should have been given a good go at right back this season instead of being put out to grass at Rotherham.
Emmanuel didn't even have to prise a good player out of the team either because Spence and Iorfa are no better than Emmanuel but McCarthy will always play people from other clubs or his purchased journeymen before playing any of our own youngsters.
Waste of time and money having an academy if we are not going to use it properly.

Rfretwell im not sure I'd use Dominic Iorfa as a benchmark for the standard our youngsters should be looking to get to

My point is that Iorfa is on loan to a Championship club, so a much higher standard of football than non league

I will nail my colours to the mast, I believe that it won't be long next season before Woolfenden is the first choice at RB/RWB. I think he's a star in the making. With him, Downes, Dozzell and Nydam, we are staring to see the fruits of Klug's return, we have plenty to be positive about in the coming seasons, I have no doubt about it.

...... but if McCarthy is at the helm , will they feature in a Town first team regularly? I doubt it very much.

I thought he looked pretty good when I last saw him. Actually tried to play football at RB. We're going to have Spence, Emmanuel, Wolfenden, McLouglin and don't forget Irish Neymar.

I've said it before; we could do worse than having Klug as manager.
Has brought through a number of youngsters over the years, and was thought enough of to be headhunted by Spurs.

Why is it that most contributors hate Mick McCarthy ? Perhaps like the Star they are more journalists than knowledgeable football people ?
If he goes then here comes division 1 or 2

Maltster the question should be, why do some people still like MM? What has he brought to the club? Other managers with less money have done a lot better, yes I know some have done worse with money, but people keep using that as an excuse for our recent failings
