Chambers Expected to Miss Rest of Season With Cracked Rib
Saturday, 7th Apr 2018 18:12

Skipper Luke Chambers looks certain to miss the rest of the season due to the injury he suffered when he collided with Bartosz Bialkowski in the first half of this afternoon's 1-0 defeat at Brentford.

“He’s cracked a rib, so no doubt he’ll be in tomorrow telling me he wants to play [against Barnsley on Tuesday] but I doubt he will,” manager Mick McCarthy said afterwards.

Better news for the Blues boss is that midfielder Cole Skuse will be available to face the Tykes having missed out today after suffering a blow to the head in the Millwall match.

Wish him a quick recovery, but no big deal. Nothing to play for, so get him right for next season. If the new manager rates him of course.

Ideal opportunity to play Chris Smith or Luke Woolfenden , shame they are on loan , but doubt MM would play them anyway!

Don't like to see any player get injured, and wish him a speedy recovery. However it opens a door for another player to prove himself .

Bad news for our quest to finish higher up the table. However, it will enable Luke to have an extended rest and come back raring to go for pre-season.

Thanks for putting yourself on the line so often this season, you're a great captain and we're lucky to have you! Your goal and celebration against Norwich will live long in the memory 😀

COYB!

Good news about Skuse! Shame Chambers is injured and I hope he makes a speedy recovery. Think he's a great captain & has been having a great season. He was on the floor for a long time. Given his previous grit & determination when he had cracked ribs knowing him he'll be trying to get back asap.

hopefully we have recall rights with either Chris Smith or Luke Woolfenden (ideally both) if so now the time to see what they could do.

I can't believe the comments from some people about Luke Chambers: there are some rotten “fans” out there. The guy has broken a rib for the team and still they hate.
It would be good to see a youngster get a chance now but not sure McCarthy will bring either Woolfy or Smith back: Wolfy is going to Wembley with Bromley and Chelmsford are in the play-offs. Shame though it would be good to see them both on the pitch: although no doubt the haters would give them a hard time so maybe they're better off staying put.

No matter how supporters feel about the decline of our club, manager and owner, not good to stoop so low as to slag Chambers off, he got injured giving 100% for the team as always. I hate the management of this club and team, I hate the tactics and entertainment level. I hate the starvation of funds towards moving forward, but I distance myself from jeering at injured players, whoever they are. Speedy recovery Luke Chambers.

Great Captain, great ambassador for ITFC, passionate, loves the club and i wish him a speedy recovery!

Not a great player IMHO, dont agree with any nasty comments or over the top Criticism. Such a shame He is injured, i really mean that!

MM playing him out of position at RB for so long, didnt help his cause and popularity amongst some fans, he was never a RB had some ok games in that position but in the main was or could be a liability playing there, but always gave his best and no one should forget that. I did not like seeing him in that position at all and sadly was one of the main culprits for launching up the pitch!

Get well soon Luke!

Speedy recovery Chambo you never know what you miss till it isn't there,it might be fortuitous for you save you having to play in front of the Knumbskull supporters booing and chastising certain players.

Can't understand people slagging off our captain particularly after he injured himself giving his usual 100%. I'm sure Chambers himself will admit he's not the greatest footballer in the league but he has given everything for ITFC. Speedy recovery Chambo.

If anyone needs to “get out of our club” it's the disrectful bile idiots who Continuously knock the players for doing their best in difficult circumstances.

Some cheap and unnecessary jibes at an injured player. Some people can't help themselves.

It's absolutely unacceptable to slag the players off.Chambers gives his all to the club and his commitment is unquestionable even though he is prone to a few mistakes as are all the players.
I don't like to see players injured,so good luck and get fit soon.
Remember the players are told what to do,so we all know where the problems are, don't we.🤔

I do occasionally criticise fit players;but when a player is injured it is completely unacceptable to make some of the jibes towards our injured Captain that I have just read.

He may not be as good as Vincent Kompany,McGuire or Dier et al;but he is a whole hearted player who always gives his all for the club. Now he is back in his favoured position I feel he is pretty effective,as evidenced by the way he threw himself in front of a goalbound shot yesterday.

Hope you make a speedy recovery Luke,as I am sure you will knowing your injury record. At least nobody on here has called you a 'sick note' lol !
