Town Linked With Swans Target John
Wednesday, 8th Aug 2018 14:59

Town are reported to have joined Swansea in showing loan interest in Rangers left-back Declan John.

According to BBC Wales, Swansea are keen to take John back to his home country on loan for the season with Town also interested.

Town aren’t immediately in need of another left-back, however, Jonas Knudsen is understood to have been interesting Stoke City and Middlesbrough, while Aston Villa were linked with the Danish international yesterday, although they appear set to confirm the signing of Joe Bryan from Bristol City later today.

John, 23, may well be viewed as a potential replacement for Knudsen should one of the interested parties make an offer which would tempt the Blues.

Speaking on Saturday following reports that the Potters were set to make a £1 million move, manager Paul Hurst said: “What I would say is to my knowledge that’s not going to be happening.

“Every time I’ve watched Jonas in the past and speaking to people about him and seeing him first-hand now, he’s a fully committed player and I certainly didn’t see anything in his performance today that would suggest he’s got something else on his mind.”

Swansea have been strongly linked with John over the last few days and would appear to be strong favourites to sign him regardless of any Town interest.

Wales international John came through the ranks at Cardiff and spent time on loan at Barnsley, Chesterfield and Rangers before making his move to Ibrox permanent last summer, signing a deal which runs to 2021.

The Merthyr Tydfil-born left-back made 30 starts and one sub appearance last season, scoring three goals.

Town are reported to be showing interest in another Rangers player, forward Josh Windass, with claims that a £1.2 million offer has been lodged.

Whether the Blues will maintain their pursuit of Windass now that Kayden Jackson is on the verge of signing from Accrington remains to be seen.

Marcus Evans is a clever man. Getting him to give Josh Windass a lift to save money on petrol costs.

Can only see this happening if Knudsen doesn't sign a new deal as we will try get money for him either in the next couple of days or in January.

I would rather be reading that Curtis Tilt is here having a medical!

Would prefer to keep Jonas. We have lost Waghorns delivery from free kicks and corners but if PH is smart he might find a way to replace some of those assists from Jones's throw-in's. They created a goal and a lot of panic in his match for Denmark.

After Jackson in tomorrow (hopefully), I reckon that's us done - but I'm not banking on it. Exciting times. Hope it all works out.

I personally am not to concerned by the lack of tilt... I think with TOTO now in at CB and with Jonas that can cover their, Darcian that can cover there and mainly Wolfenden who can cover there, I don't see it as a priority... was happy with the 2 shrews and Jackson.. Windass would be a mega bonus, and tilt if he comes would again be welcomed.

I'd like Tilt but I don't think we will get Tilt.

Oystons refusal to sell to allow Bowyer to finance the targets he wanted has resulted in one of the best managers in the division leaving, v few signings, fans even more alienated (if thats possible), Tilt alienated, club now managerlerss after 1 game and job that v few people in football can possibly be interested in.....

We already covered across the pitch so whilst folks are talking about Tilit and Windass, we already have enough cover if needs be with Donacien, Chalbah, Woolfy, Knudsen and Spence all being able to play CB if a problem with Chambers or Nsiala.

We also have cover for left back from Kenlock and Nydam. Think Edun has played there too. However, if Jonas won't sign a contract then PH is on top of it, or so it seems.

How refreshing to have a manager who is trying to get players to make the team look good rather than himself ! In PH i very much trust.

I predict Oyston is desperate to get a million in; he has serious cash issues. He is rolling the dicehoping he can get an extra £200k in. His brinkmanship May work. I suspect it won't but hope it goes!!
