Edun Starts for Blues Against Villa
Saturday, 18th Aug 2018 14:21

Tayo Edun is handed his first Blues Championship start and Gwion Edwards returns from injury as Town take on Aston Villa at Portman Road.

Bartosz Bialkowski will be in goal with former Villa youngster Janoi Donacien at right-back, Jonas Knudsen at left-back and Toto Nsiala - making his home debut - at the centre of the defence alongside skipper Luke Chambers.

In midfield Cole Skuse returns having been left on the bench at Exeter with Trevoh Chalobah and Jon Nolan, who is also making his home debut.

Edun is on the left and Edwards is on the right with Ellis Harrison getting the nod as the lone striker.

Freddie Sears, Grant Ward and Kayden Jackson are among the subs having started against the Grecians.

There’s no place for Teddy Bishop or Danny Rowe in the 18, the pair having made their first appearances of the season as subs against Exeter.

Town: Bialkowski, Donacien, Nsiala, Chambers (c), Knudsen, Chalobah, Edwards, Skuse, Nolan, Edun, Harrison. Subs: Gerken, Jackson, Spence, Ward, Sears, Downes, Kenlock.

Villa: Nyland, Tuanzebe, Chester (c), Jedinak, Hutton, Elmohamady, Bjarnason, McGinn, Adomah, Grealish, Kodjia. Subs: Moreira, Taylor, Whelan, Hourihane, Green, Elphick, Hepburn-Murphy. Ref: Tim Robinson (West Sussex).

I have travelled 150 miles to see the worst back four in the league two holding midfielders at home and one up front I fear the worse.

Really think we need 2 up front. Let's get behind the boys today. A win and we are full of confidence going forward

Lets be positive. Sure it is going to be a tough game. But COYB!!!!
Think Nolan is going to be a real player for us.
Just hope we can support Harrison enough.
Come on boys!

Edun and Edwards are also up front, depending on how you look at it.

Stevelincsexcile - hotly disagree this is the worst back four. I'm at the match. Fear a defeat but it will take time. Really need Jackson and Harrison combining up front Imo.

Yes positivelyportman I agree with tummy a pathetic post, my comment is not based on negativity. I have looked at the calibre of players they have against ours and the system we are playing, coupled with the fact they have 3 wins from 3 and we haven't won yet, that is the basis of my PREDICTION, of course I hope I'm wrong as I live 20 mile from Villa and nobody wants us to win any more than me so I give my villa mates some.

Have to say would like to see Dozzell and Downes at least on the Bench. Accept Dozzell is still comming back but Downes surely?

Let's get behind the team, we're 3 games in to a new era, we've been complaint for years the team had all the pazaz coached out of them so now w we've got what the vast majority wanted, Mick out and bloke in trying to keep it on the floor let's back them, at least whilst the game is on and accept that new ideas take time to click.

The crowd can be a 12th man, the vitriol gives that 12th man to the opposition.

I'm not hopeful today TBH, Villa are decent but back the boys for 90 mins, whinge after if warranted...

Exactly fat boy. Those that keep sayin one up front etc no nothing about football. 4231 is an attacking formation when played correctly.

Half time thoughts- very harsh sending off, Villagetting way too many soft decisions. Ref hopeless. One up front not really working as Harrison too short and isolated. Can't see why both Chalobah and Skuse playing together, Edwards a class act and giving everything, Donacuen and Knudsen poor, Nolan very quiet. We will not score many with one up front. That said with 11 men may have had a chance second half...
