Nydam Set for St Johnstone Loan
Monday, 27th Aug 2018 09:15

Town midfielder Tristan Nydam is close to joining Scottish Premiership side St Johnstone on loan.

The Scottish Sun reported that the Saints had made a move for the 19-year-old overnight and TWTD understands that the deal, which will run to January, is expected to be concluded in the next few days ahead of Friday’s deadline.

Blues manager Paul Hurst said earlier this month that he had talked with the England U19 international, who returned to training after a minor quad injury last week, about going out on loan in order to gain senior experience: “I’ve spoken to Tristan and that’s something we’ve had a conversation about.”

Nydam has made 14 starts and six sub appearances for the Blues first team having come through the academy.

The Zimbabwe-born, Colchester-raised youngster has not featured for Town this season.

Not worse move will definitely toughen him up but would like to see him play over the likes of Skuse.

Always good to go abroad and broaden your horizons at that age. I'm still not sure how far away he is here, but I guess this about League 1 level so will help if he is made a first team player.

He still has more Championship experience than most of the squad have.

Expecting a mixed reaction to this one, but I think it will be good for him to be regularly playing first team football to gain experience.

Should of stayed in the English league. Not going to get much experience playing Sunday pub teams every week.

Disgraceful : fill our team with utter crap and send the youngsters out to rot elsewhere.
It's as if McCarthy never left.

jpring89 “Sunday pub teams”?
What Celtic, Rangers, Aberdeen?
If Nydam is so good then he should rip this league up then shouldn't he?

Automatic response to this is he'll come back a better player with hopefully more game time but. going by history this isn't usually the case and becomes surplus to requirements as other players have bedded down in the starting 11 and is sold or goes to another club on a freebie.

Is he any worse than a few others we have starting at the moment?

Apparently, according to many on here, our previous manager never gave the youngsters a chance. At least this #newera has changed things. Just saying 😳

Good move for Nydam and us. Despite the poor start to the season Edwards, Nolan and Edun have looked decent in patches going forward. It's the holding part of midfield where we are struggling, and Nydam don't fit with that requirement.

Im very much pro change and pro Hurst. That being said I can't help but feel the likes of Nydem/Dozzell etc would be getting game time (for us) under Mick. I just hope our young lads Emmanuel Myles Tristan Andre Flynn Ben Morris etc don't just become wasted.

The point of being sent out on loan is to gain experience and some match fitness. If we were to put them straight into the team and they don't perform because of lack of experience and fitness it'll give you all something else to moan about!

No No No should be playing in our team along with all the others. This club is being MURDERED

I think he needs it, he's a good player but lightweight for me. A season of week in week out Scottish football should toughen him up and I think he needs that

Will we be able to get him back if we need him or he's just warming a colder bench in Scotland? I remember we couldn't recall Shane Supple some years ago because cross border loans seem to have different rules.

I have mixed feeling on this. While i would agree both edun and chalobah have done well since there arrival it does frustrate me a little that by playing them were developing players for other clubs while our own young player dozzell nydam etc are missing out. So while i think tristan need first team football i do feel it should be with us.

One part of me thinks this is a beneficial move for him and us, the other thinks he could do a job for us already going on what I saw of him last season. PH strikes me as a manager with his head screwed on, so we have to trust him when he makes these decisions. I fully hope to see Nydam back with us in the future.

Love the way my comment gets marked straight down by the Skuse lovers but the fact it we have been playing a 4141 and Skuse as a CM has been terrible why not give him a go.
