Rowe and Roberts on Target as U23s Beat Colchester to Stay Top
Monday, 1st Oct 2018 16:14

Danny Rowe netted twice and Jordan Roberts once as Town’s table-topping U23s beat Colchester 3-1 at their Florence Park training ground this afternoon, Chris Forino pulling back a late consolation for the U’s.

Early on, keeper Harry Wright had saved a penalty from Colchester's Callum Jones.

The side coached by Gerard Nash and Chris Hogg remain top of the Professional Development League Two South standings by three points without a defeat in their last seven matches. They are next in action at QPR on Friday 12th October (KO 2pm).

Time to seriously think about using some of these guys now Mr Hurst ....at least in the squad and bench.

So neither of them will figure tomorrow then!

Rowe deserves a chance as unlike others he has goals in him.

Rowe surely warrants more minutes than he's currently getting for the first team.

He doesn't seem to be making the most of his first team appearances, however is flying for the U23s.

Why not use some of the (in form) younger players...... been successful before so give them the experience. Otherwise why do we have MEs plan and the academy. Pretty hollow statement if not used and shown to work!

I have said it on here time and time again and will say it once more. If you want to build for the future 1st team players must be 'your players' there are far too many loan players occupying first team places they don't deserve.

Lets get players like Rowe, Lankaster & Dozzell some first team games, they are our future, not some 'Johnny come lately' on loan from eslewhere.

It's all well and good asking for these players to get senior time but they are never going to get the time and space they were afforded for any of those 3 goals in any Championship game. The gulf between a development match and a Championship one continues to widen alarmingly.

Well Peaky what evidence have you got. I'm willing to bet that if the players PH signed from L 1 had played in u23 they wouldn't have got on score sheet apart from GE.
Rowe hasn't had enough chances to show what he can do and would have been ideal against Brum.

Not sure what more Danny Rowe needs to do to get a chance in the first team? Obviously we don't have all the evidence/stats etc etc but given what we do know (left sided attacking player that is consistently scoring and creating) it seems a little strange that he isn't involved.

Granted the U23's is a completely different level.
