Arsenal Linked With Youngster Crowe
Sunday, 21st Oct 2018 09:56

Arsenal are the latest club to be linked with a move for Blues youngster Dylan Crowe.

In July, Manchester United, Brighton, RB Leipzig, Borussia Mönchengladbach and Benfica were all said to be eyeing the 17-year-old right-back but, according to the Sunday Mirror, the Gunners are now the frontrunners in the chase to land the England U18 international. Borussia Dortmund are also said to be among those interested.

Crowe has been with the Blues since he was 12 but despite turning 17 in April is still to sign a professional deal at Portman Road.

A regular in the Town U23s, Crowe would have been with the England U19s during the international break but for injury, having played at U15, U16 and U17 levels prior to picking up two U18s caps last month.

Town lost 16-year-old Ben Knight to Manchester City for an initial £1 million in the summer with owner Marcus Evans subsequently hitting out at the system of compensed clubs for the loss of academy players to bigger clubs.

Nowhere near this awful team but good enough for Arsenal youth set up. We need a manager who is actually going to play the kids we have decent players in loan we can't get back till January. Morris looked lively in the ten minutes he played if had scored his chance would be have gone? Now sitting on the bench in lower leagues. I think you should join him Hursty

Sadly I can see a whole host of our talented academy players walking out the door, Andre Dozzell being the first in January.

Evans is only interested in making money out of the acedemy , and his managers are not interested in blooding our youngsters into the first team. Instead we have to suffer others Clubs youngsters being brought in , ( whilst our talent is shipped out on loan)!!

I'm sick and tired of Evans now and just him gone , and he can take Hurst / Doig with him!

This once great Club is declining at an exponential rate under Evans now, and we will soon cease to exist. We as a fan base need to REALLY start to fight for OUR Club now or soon it will be no more.

Keane, McCarthy and now Hurst all seem to prefer playing centre backs at right back. We had Emmanuel who did well in League One last season, but instead he was loaned out without being given a chance and a League Two right back (Donacien) brought in. Donacien is now at left-back, with centre-back Pennington at right-back. Can't we just play players in their correct positions?!

Spot on ArnieM.
Does Phil or anyone know of the truth or otherwise in the rumours that Evans is trying to sell to a consortium of the Saudi royal family.Apparently its the ones who own the Godophin stables at Newmarket and that negociations are curently stalled.Iv heard this from many people but nothing official but would certainly explain why Evans is asset stripping the club.
It seems a lifetime away when Magilton was in charge,we had beaten Norwich and sent them down. That was a good team with Walters and Stead up fron,Dos Santos Civelli, legwinski and Miller in midfield and Delaney solid at the back. This is the worst Ipswich team I have seen in 50 years and despair for my poor grandson who despite everything remains loyal.
I wanted Hurst but it seems that hes doing exactly the same things that McCarthy was rightly critisised for.Maybe he is a good manager-even Clough failed spectacularly at Leeds-but Im afraid that its time for him to go.

This story is everything that is wrong with the club. The vast majority of our greatest players:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ipswich_Town_F.C._Hall_of_Fame
were home grown.
It's the same situation as with Ben Knight, who we lost to Man City. The motto of ITFC should be changed to:

Assume Promise is Greatness.

This is the attitude that built the club and made it a success. Sir Bobby Robson thrusted talented youngsters into the first team and thanks to this policy we succeeded beyond anyones' wildest dreams. Sheepshanks and Burley got this too, at least in their early spell. Evans, despite his words, fails to make this policy a reality. Jordan Rhodes and Jack Marriott left without making a single start. The 2005 Youth Cup winning team were dismantled upon Evans' arrival without much first-team time.
The entire ethos of the club has to be reset. Must we boycott, restart the club as AFC Ipswich, wipe the debt and get rid of Evans? Anyone know a good lawyer?

The vultures are circling the corpse of our once great club. It seems the Academy only exists now to produce youngsters who can provide a few quid for our illustrious owner.

Thanks Evans, thanks for nothing!

Please can these big clubs leave us alone. We're in enough trouble as it is

I don't quite understand the widespread conviction that it's Evans ' ruining ' Academy / Youngsters and prospects ; he might get some things wrong but it does appear he's actually invested lots of money in the Youth side ,and is on record verbally & in writing as a severe critic of the totally uneven treatment meted out to non Premier league clubs in this connection .
We must be careful not to confuse a number of issues :.Ioswich have always had to be a selling club to get anywhere near balancing the books and Royle had to go in the saddest of circumstances because we couldn't spend and were about to go into Administration ! So please do not forget the need to keep an eye on the Budget and cash flow .
I've referred to the topic well ahead of yesterday & today , but it bears repeating that this Manager has cast adrift some very promising youngsters and often declares reluctance to blood those we do have .PH seems to have an agenda of his own ,trying to prove a point ( totally hopeless ) by refusing to take on board , or listen to, ideas and continues down a blind alley !
SO -- if I was currently advising , and who wouldn't , then you'd believe that at Ipswich there was a management team who had no faith ,didn't believe in youngsters AND therefore if a big club came along it would be better ,certainly NOT worse in terms of prospects !
On the same topic , I wonder if G Nash is getting similarly disillusioned & wants away unless there's a change at the top? Remind yourselves PH said he wants everybody to play his way , Academy up,: CRIKEY what are we letting ourselves in for if the First Team is an example ?
When things go wrong , in any organisation , first of all look to the top ( PH & CD don't inspire ,& seem to have really lost the dressing room !) & ask that they come out in public , own up and show they will and can put it right !
The place is demoralised , degraded and sadly lacking any sign of vitality ; V QPR was a hollowed out example with no spirit , life or commitment , so NO example for youngsters to aspire to !
We stand to lose a lot , and in many areas of OUR club ! At this rate bums on seats will evaporate , merchandise sales will collapse and the core of the Club we all love will be virtually destroyed !
I wish it were otherwise ,but despair of incision from ME at the moment .
Still love ITFC ,but the passion , like the wick of a candle , is rapidly burning down !

I've been calling for a protest for a while ArnieM.. you just tell me when and I'll be there! The man has completely sucked the life and soul out of this once great club.. as other state.. he is only interested in making money out of us! What's the need to splash Marcus Evans all around the stadium.. on previous shirts.. I tell you why.. to promote his businesses NOT Ipswich Town football club! There is no doubt we are now going to be playing football in the third tier of English football next season and that alone should be enough for us all to come together and drive this shambles of a man... a total failure in every aspect OUT of our club!

Spot on ArnieM. We are going to be selling a few in Jan as they will be worth much lesss at the end of the season.

Worst team I've seen in my time supporting this club. No quality whatsoever. We might well come bottom this season unless there are some radical changes ASAP. Problem is, even if we brought in 6 or 7 players in January (which will never happen) they will take time to gel. I think we need:

2 decent championship standard strikers
2 decent championship standard wingers
1 decent championship standard midfielder
1 solid championship standard right-back
1 solid championship standard centre-back

And that' is just so we are competitive between now and the end of the season. Lot depends where we are in the table come January 1st. Might be long gone by that point.

Good points Suffolk boy. If things hav not improved in the nxt 2 games the toxic atmosphere will increase against Preston @ home, the reasons/opinions @ selling. Webster/Waghorn/Garner have been well voiced maybe more to the point none of them were replaced by any championship experienced/savvy players. Anyone attending supporters meeting Nov 1st will hopefully ask Hurst what him & Deputy Doig. are trying to achieve, hopefully Evans will not allow them to freefall Itfc into Div 1. Right now are season is definately about survival& finishing at least 4th from bottom.

I put it out to fellow ITFC lovers/supporters that Preston at home is the protest! Enough is enough under this current regime

This lad should stay with dozzer & Lankester future looks bright not to mention the others promising youngsters if only we someone brave enough to play them all? surely that's our best & only option now , as a club we should be playing these boys early then they might stay and we then have an Ipswich team to be proud of and can naturally find are level and if they are good enough can sell them on for much better money simples

blueboy1981 added 19:51 - Oct 21
Just about any top Club you can mention are interested in this lad - yet he isn't anywhere near our first team, currently, and likely to be, bottom of the Championship.

European Club interest too.

Paul Hurst is seriously endangering the core building blocks of our Club - which is still the envy of many.

Youngsters can, and do, do the business coming thro' the ranks - just take a look down the other end of the A140 for proof that the system works.

It does seem strange that Crowe can play for England at a number of levels but not get near the first team and allegedly all these teams are after him.....

jayessess added 13:23 - Oct 22
That he's not signed a post-17 contract probably isn't a great sign...
And who could blame him. I mean, it's not as if we can realistically tell youngsters that there's a clear path to the first team. "Stick around a while and you'll make it to the fringes of the first team, at which point we'll bring in Premier League loanees from your age group, whilst we send you out on loan. But don't worry, when you get back we'll be sure to have signed older players from the same leagues you had successful loan spells in! You can then have that permanent move to Peterborough United you've always dreamt of and start your journey back up from there."
