Judge Undergoing Medical at Town
Monday, 14th Jan 2019 16:08

Brentford winger Alan Judge is at Town undergoing a medical this afternoon.

We understand a deal has been agreed with the Bees but talks are still continuing with the player and his representatives regarding personal terms.

The Blues made their move for the 30-year-old at the end of last week with discussions having progressed over the weekend.

Republic of Ireland international Judge, who is out of contract at Griffin Park at the end of the season and is available for a cut-price fee, has made only made only seven starts and 17 sub appearances for the Bees this season, scoring twice.

The former Blackburn, Plymouth (loan) and Notts County man suffered a broken leg at Portman Road in April 2016, an injury which kept him out of first-team action until January 2018.

Dubliner Judge previously came close to joining the Blues from the Magpies in the summer of 2013, however, he instead returned to Blackburn, where he had previously been a youth player, for a second spell.

If the deal is concluded, then Judge will become Paul Lambert's sixth signing of the January transfer window.

' judge undergoing medical' that terms always worries me slightly because it means the player has been introduced to the treatment room before anything else. I hope they don't smash his reflexes with a hammer!

Paul Lambert has the crowd behind him with his honesty ,
his desire to involve ex players , even if as behind the scene advisors
He obviously has his budget curtailed so some reliance on those with medical worries
..a warrior as James Collins IF he can retain fitness is ideal for next 4 months
Bringing in hunkier guys upfront are also necessities
Judge also has skills but again with some medical doubts
All are to be commended BUT is there too much reliance on our current midfield, those recently playing plus the " please be fit" Huws to all up their games , to take control of matches which has been painfully absent for seasons.
In Robson and Burleys days of excitement skill and bringing us great pleasure were Wark, Muhren Thijssen Dyer Holland and the mercurial Magilton
Warhorses are being put together, but an iota of those guys abilities may be what is missed the most...to survive midfield takeovers for the next 19 matches will be really heroic .

100% agree blue swede. PH has left this club an absolute shambles, I just hope PL can perform miracles and get us out the bottom 3, and then build the team how he wants it next season.

Essex Tractor - completely agreed. Our midfield went completely AWOL in the 2nd half, which IMO was the reason why we were so on the back foot all half. On the plus side, Collins took the pressure off Chambo and was absolutely everywhere all match, leading the line. We coped well.

Midfield strengthening is essential, maybe with some returning faces we will improve, but better teams would have found a way on Saturday and we can't give this ground up each week

Might not be fit yet.. Would be a good addition to our midfield..thing that bothers me is it is filled with players coming back from sick. Hope we have plan b c and d

Having been a Brentford supporter and season ticket holder for many years I have seen first hand Alan Judge's career. It's fair to say he was a very decent Championship player a couple of years back and attracted a lot of interest for bigger clubs just before THAT injury.
He has done well to come back from Luke Hyam's assault but has, I'm afraid to tell you all, never been anywhere near the same player since.
He has managed only a bit part player in Brentford's current season and at the back end of last season couldn't get anywhere near the 1st team.
He's slow now and can no longer get around the pitch as he used to.
That said he's a fighter and will try his best and still has a decent level of skill, can hit a good free kick and can pick a pass.
My only feeling is don't expect too much from him as he's not going to add much more than Town already have apart from some greater experience in an otherwise lightweight midfield.
Hopefully Hews can get back soon to team up with Judgy.
Come on you Bees and the Town!!

Still required centre midfielder with creativity. Where on earth can we find such a diamond at this time of year? Hoolahan/Holland type maybe. We can only hope but if PL can we are in with a real chance. Some very testing matches coming up which will be defining times if we win. I was surprised we didn't get Macaulay back here as PL must know of him. I'm beginning to think we can survive again although its only one match played with our new additions.

Judge is great news, along with the prospect of Huws getting some game time at last. Those two should really give us some punch from midfield along side Skuse and the young guns. Things are really starting to look up.....
