Skipper Chambers Linked With Chicago Fire
Monday, 4th Mar 2019 16:18

Town skipper Luke Chambers is reportedly a target of MLS side the Chicago Fire.

According to the Daily Mail, the Fire are keen to add a central defender to their squad with Chambers said to fit the bill both from a playing and financial perspective.

Chambers is out of contract with the Blues in the summer but with the club having an option to keep him for a further season.

Manager Paul Lambert recently said he had spoken to his captain, who joined Town on a free transfer in 2012 after leaving Nottingham Forest, about staying at Portman Road beyond this season, stating that Chambers, 33, and Cole Skuse, 32, both have a massive part to play in the club going forward.

He added that owner Marcus Evans is also set to talk to the one-time Northampton defender about his future.

I, too, think that LC gets a raw deal on here. He always gives his best and doesn't hide from his mistakes. I'm sure that if the Chicago deal is a good one he will go. It would extend his playing days and give him the opportunity to live in one of the world's greatest cities.
For whatever reason LC is one of our most reviled players on here; somewhat unfairly in my opinion. If he secures this transfer he will go with thanks and best wishes for the future!

Whilst I endeavour to try and be a balanced poster to all things ITFC (exception McCarthy) Lol! I'm struggling on this one. I've been critical of Captain Calamity for a good couple of years now, back in them days I used to get slaughtered on here for suggesting that the full sleeved fist pumper was anything other than a club legend, but like our Championship status them days are well gone.
So respect to Chambo for all his off field contributions but as far as a footballing centre half goes, he's well past his sell by date.

A number of our senior players have been put under immense pressure this season from day 1. Take any team from the top of the prem to the bottom of the conference, rip it to shreds removing vast swathes of talent and experience, replace it with inferiority and watch it crumble. Mistakes in the last line of defence increase with lack of quality ahead of them. Bart, Spence,Chambers, Gerken, Knudsen, Bree, Pennington, all have made costly errors during the course of the season. I am not suggesting that any players named are world beaters but in a winning team all are more than capable of holding their own in the Championship. Pressure and lack of confidence from poor results breeds mistakes, start winning and costly errors become fewer.....bit chicken and egg mind!

Great city to live in or visit, and really good support in a Blue Action kind of way. And the craft beer which you can drink through the game includes a 7% IPA. Wowzers.

My gran can turn quicker than chambers. She's been dead best part 20 years. Never been a fan of him. On the last game can we give you a fist pump instead!! ✊👊

Was a fine centre half until McCarthy moved him to full back and he hasn't been the same since. All the best for the future Luke.

Saw Chambo in town today and had a chat with him, he may not be the best player in the world, but he bleeds blue!! He is genuinely gutted about where we find ourselves. He's as honest, as the day is long and can see just how badly the club has been mismanaged - 12 quid tickets on Saturday (not exactly rocket science) was his words, Hope's the club get the season ticket pricing right in the summer. He's just a top bloke and will be manager of this club 1 day.

We've had a whip round at work and I think we may have got the flight cost providing he doesn't insist on being in first class, he wouldn't would he knowing how bad he really is? Either way I think we have enough for economy class and possibly a few trolley snacks if it would help to close the deal. Look, if he really pushes it, I will stretch to a big mac meal in the duty free McDonald's. If he goes from Heathrow can someone sub me the tube fare to terminal 4 please.

Bluenc " Chambers has been one of our best defenders for years" . How can can you say that? MM played him at RB where he was, admittedly always 100% committed, but cost us goals on a weekly basis, not his fault but he was a poor RB! Now playing at CB he continues to cost us Goals, after Toto Loses the ball, it was down to Chambers to sort it out, should have done the nasty bit and taken one for the team, not step out of his way, hold his arms and apologise for nearly touching him!
Admittedly he was let down by his fellow defenders, for the first goal, someone should have kept an eye Olivera, pathetic and not what you expect to see from experienced pro's.

Heres the thing i like Luke, passionate committed loves the club a great captain and a real all round good guy, he really is, but things need to improve on the pitch at both ends, if we cant score then defending becomes even more important!

Too many mistakes in the team, youngsters learning the trade you can sometimes Take! Not School boy errors on a continued basis from the senior pros!

Luke out on that Pitch is not the way forward! Really want to thank him and wish him all the best if he moves!

Don't forget to take no-exScuse with you Captain-Calamity, I for one am hoping we return to our core values of yester-year and totally forget about loan players and promote our own players through from the ranks of the youths and reserve teams to first team.
