Crewe Boss Launches Bizarre Attack on Town Friday, 16th Aug 2019 13:56
Crewe manager David Artell has launched a bizarre attack on Town for agreeing to pay Colchester £500,000 for Kane Vincent-Young rather than making a move for Alex right-back Perry Ng, who he believes is the best player in that position in League Two.
“I've seen this morning that Ipswich have bid half-a-million quid for Kane Vincent-Young at Colchester,” Artell told Cheshire Live.
"So whoever is doing Ipswich's recruitment they should give him his P45, because he's missed out on the best right-back in the league.
"Whether it's just because it is down the road and there's press and hype from the local media I don't know, but I'm delighted they've gone for him because they've missed out on the best right back in League Two."
He added: "It's not just one though, I can think of four or five [Crewe players] off the top of my head that are ready and primed and can quite easily go on.”
Liverpool-born Ng, 23, came through the youth system at Gresty Road, breaking into their first team in 2015/16. Last season he won Crewe's Player of the Year and Players' Player of the Year awards.
As reported earlier, Vincent-Young is at Town today but with his move from the U's not expected to be completed until over the weekend or on Monday.

Do our scouts not get paid for petrol beyond Essex!? Only joking! Seems an odd one this! Does he want to put the league on notice so they sign his best players? 1 or 2 look bright in the highlights from Tue to be fair:
What a crazy message...basically seems keen to sell then! Imagine if our manager was touting our own like this. It's stuoid anyway. Lambert is looking for a type of RB and one who is versatile anyway. This is moronic in all honesty and completely disrespectful to all involved (fans, our club, manager etc). To suggest another pro should get sacked. Suggest we must have been sniffing around and sour grapes.
The anecdote behind the song "Ana Ng" by They Might be Giants is a good one. OK, only of tangential relevance, but as there was talk of how to pronounce the surname, I couldn't not mention it:
Ipswich Town pull out of signing Kane Vincent-Young as a bloke who never played higher than League Two knows more than UEFA Champions League winner Paul Lambert and his scouting team.
Having seen Ng play regularly for Crewe over the past 2 years, I can confirm that he is indeed a fine player who Is as strong going forward as well as defending.
