Why is this being treated with such enthusiasm? Do we think he's gonna be such a great asset in the Championship, or we settling down to life in League One?

I bet the same people moaning about this would be doing the same if we let him run down his contract. If Jackson gets service from midfield and improves his one on one success ratio he is an asset in this league and the championship.

Think he deserves it he's worked hard at his game unlike some who do other things outside the game .His hold up play has definitely improved has scored goals with very little service from our so called midfield and his work rate is very good and the fee we paid for him is nothing nowadays.

Nine goals and six assists is excellent with no help from a midfield full of donkeys.

I have been one of Kayden's critics but he is gradually winning me over and at 25 he has still got plenty of time and scope for much more development which will see him improve gradually and push his worth up well beyond the inflated fee we paid for him.

In my view it is difficult seeing him ever become the complete centre forward. However, In a couple of years I think he will have increased his value and he has done well this year with goals, assists and a lot of endeavour in the “press” role up the pitch.

Should've crossed it the other night, Kayden, instead of that weak shot to the bottom right-hand corner. But I don't doubt your effort, and with better balls (!) and your speed, you might have nicked us a draw.

Not a bad player, its his decision making at times that lets him down, cant fault his work rate or effort!

I agree he puts in a lot of effort, . Still we lack punch though ,could do with signing a decent target man, it wont happen though, as we all know. We will lose out on promotion again through lack of investment.History will repeat itself.

He isnt a championship striker, and not even a great striker for league 1. We well overpaid for him. But, this is the best we can expect with Lord Evans in charge.

Having invested so heavily on the lad, the minimum we should be doing is protecting that investment and giving him a new contract seems sensible given it will be on league 1 terms.

He is still young enough to improve, maybe with better players around him e.g. Sears.....and better service e.g. Bishop, KVY, Lankester. Needs to in order to justify that price tag which was hardly his fault, but you cannot fault him for effort and trying.

Not the finished article, his best is yet to come. Glad to see a contract signed. As for £1.6m, irrelevant! It's a pittance in the modern game!

If I asked any of you a couple of years back if 1.6 million quid (plus wages/ expenses) for a striker who can only score 4 in the championship and 9 in league one was worth going after, I suspect most would have passed him over without a seconds hesitation.
From a "nice" point of view, he's a great guy, works hard, but for me a striker is all about big results and not effort or willingness. Most players on a field can be carried by others except for strikers and GK's. Its either in or out of the net. On or off target, no goals no win.
At the end of the day, only two things matter to everyone at a football club - winning, and fans entertainment. They go hand in hand. We could win every game but if its not entertaining its unpleasant, or we could have great entertainment which will wear off if we don't win & go down like last season. Balance is key. We have the odd bit of both but unless players like Jackson are up to the job, neither the winning or the entertainment are going to happen and bring in the cash for an upgrade.
We are all willing him on to give us results but I feel he's only coming a little good because he's at the level hes best suited for. I know its the best cards we have in our hand and we have to make do but I think we all know he's not the "prolific striker" that's going to get us out of this league.

He is definitely improving but i would have waited and reviewed at the end of the season. I don't think he is good enough for the championship

Can't see why anyone would be negative about this. Been our best forward this season in my opinion. Chases lost causes and pressures defenders and returned with a decent amount of goals. Think he'd get a hell of a lot more too if we added some creativity to our midfield.

Jackson might not be good enough for the championship but who is in our squad Downes and Wolfenden possibly orKVY. If we get promotion it will require a massive rebuild and a clear out of the dead wood otherwise its straight back down .

So he's potentially signed until 2022? Why are we offering him a new contract unless he shows he's good enough for the championship? Seems to make no sense to me. He's probably being paid at a higher level than he's worth already
