No Dobra in U23s Side Facing Watford
Tuesday, 1st Dec 2020 13:15

Town’s U23s are in action against Watford this afternoon with forward Armando Dobra notably not included in the XI (KO 1pm).

That would appear to indicate that the Albanian U21 international has travelled with the first-team squad to Oxford for this evening’s match.

Young Needham Market midfielder Callum Page is again included in the side having featured as a trialist in the previous two U23s games.

Meanwhile, the U18s defeated 10-man Swansea 5-1 at St George’s Park on Saturday with Michael Bareck (2), Fraser Alexander, Ola Bello and Tyrese Osbourne scoring the goals.

U23s: Przybek, Crowe, Baggott, Ndaba, Smith, Healy, Crane, Page, Viral, Siziba, Z Brown.

Why do the U23's play the same day as the 1st team ? Does not make sense!

Although a pipe dream, I would love to see the Under 23/reserve league play all their matches on the same day as the 1st team but the leagues needs to be linked to the current 1st team league. That way you could play the 1st team game as a 3pm kick off the follow it with the reserve fixture afterwards. Fans would get two games for the price of one. For evening games you kick the reserve games off at say 5.30 then the 1st team game at 7.45. Would save on travelling expenses for clubs if all players are going on the same coach. Just an thought?

Good idea ForrestsFingers but the First Team shouldn't be playing on a pitch that could easily be cut up by a previous game.

Horsham Blue, I agree with you in that respect. If that is the case then play the reserve game afterwards. You make the call depending on the conditions. If this was to occur, those 1st teasers who were on the bench could get some game time in the reserve/U23's

#dobrawatch not sure i'm as enthused and many on here about Dobra just yet. He's had a tendency to run head down with the ball, gives it away too readily and seems to wander. Obviously, I loved to be proven wrong - one thing this season has been good for is the amount of homegrown players that have come through. COYB

Jugsy - The lad Dobra certainly has potential in abundance, but the points you make are true. He does have a tendency at the moment to make the wrong decisions which put the team under undue pressure. This is something he needs to learn but will only do so by playing in matches that matter.

Happy being blue - Judge is on the bench tonight. Completely agree with your remarks. Judge has been poor this season and recently his decision making has been poor.

happybeingblue - yep, agreed. Many players found wanting and should be doing better, Judge hasn't offered much at all. My comment about Dobra is more about the fact there seems to be a fascination particularly with him and his (lack of) game time. Tbh, really pleased to see the development of McGavin in the few games he's played in, who's to say Dobra wouldn't do the same (he actually had a decent game last night versus his previous performances)? I just don't think he's the great hope that the team needs.
