Dobra Impresses as Albania U21s Win
Friday, 4th Jun 2021 19:35

Blues forward Armando Dobra was named man of the match and won a penalty as Albania’s U21s beat Andorra 3-0 away in their opening European Championships qualifying group game this evening.

Dobra, who was winning his fourth U21s cap, started and won the 43rd-minute spot-kick - which Anis Mehmeti converted - when he was brought down in the area.

The 20-year-old, who was subbed in the 67th minute, is now set to return home and won’t be involved in Tuesday’s friendly in Bulgaria to give him a longer break ahead of the Blues’ return for pre-season training on June 25th.

Like most of the rest of the current first-team squad, Dobra has been told he can leave this summer should Town receive an acceptable offer.

However, the London-born youngster said on Saturday that he is determined to get himself into the Town side in 2021/22: “My goal is to play with the first team in Ipswich.”

Good on you Dobs. Hope you don't get forced out of the club because of the rebuild. The lads got raw talent and I'd like to see him stay as part of the 20/21 squad.

We haven't let him go for nothing and nowhere has it been stated that we would not expect a fee should a move be agreed.

Well done Dobbs, I really like him as a player and hope to see him here for the coming season at least, gives a game excitement and not scared to take players on.

Well done Dobs.....now get home and rest up for a pre-season that will likely be significantly tougher than he has seen before. Got the talent, now needs the physical ability to make it through a season in and around the 1st team, and most importantly buy in to Mr Cook's ways and patterns of play ! Should be a big player for us in the next few years; all down to the lad himself now.

I suspect what Dobs is saying is what Cook was hoping to hear after telling players they're free to move on. No more free rides for anyone, show you want it. Hope he stays.

Hope he stays, he offers a skill set pretty unique to the squad, and will only get better with more quality around him.

MoM in international [regardless of countries rating] is great to hear, I WILL BE DOUBLY DISAPPOINTED if Dobra is moved on ,he is an honest workhorse and has the skills, a livewire player. WELL DONE Armando. Come on Cookie get him settled in .

Cook has apparently told some players they are not even welcome to pre-season training. Bishop who's been here since he was about 8 was given less than a minute. Told to go away.
