Blues Eyeing Liverpool Youngster Kelleher
Monday, 7th Jun 2021 11:19

TWTD understands Liverpool’s Caoimhín Kelleher is on the Blues’ list of potential summer goalkeeping recruits.

The Reds are keen to send the Irish U21 international out on loan to gain first-team experience in 2021/22, while Town boss Paul Cook is looking to move on both Tomas Holy and Dai Cornell this summer.

Cork-born Kelleher, 22, was with hometown club Ringmahon Rangers until he joined Liverpool’s academy in 2015.

The 6ft 2in keeper made his senior debut in 2019/20 and has now made nine senior appearances, two in the Premier League and two in the Champions League.

Town are unlikely to be the only side eyeing Kelleher, who has previously received calls into the senior Irish squad but without yet winning a cap, and Championship clubs may also be keen.

I think if we got this lad along with Holy or Cornell we would be Ok and save a few bob to spend in other areas. At 22 would he count towards the 60% wage cap?

Sure Cook hasnt impressedsince coming to town, but it was a bad time, a bad squad in fact everything was bad, things are changing ,top to bottom, GIVE IT CHANCE.

Tractor Cam: Isn't he a bit young for a first choice GK ? I thought GK's were normally older before they got into the senior first team. Might be that he's really that good , and if so, then yip , no problem here .

Monkey blue we trusted the managers but now it seems its been the owner all the way along. PL said everything I'd wrong about the club and his right look at the structure now miles better. Imagine if we had that structure when MM was here I think we would have been in the premiership.

BloodBlue90…. He hasn't “won the division twice already”. He's won it once with a team that clearly overspent hence they went into administration less than a year later. Thanks for highlighting my point about looking at facts rather than being blindly supportive. I haven't said Cook can't get us promoted as he has more resources although not as much as some think given the rules, but he's only ever had success when he's had significant resources…. And not stayed around long at any of those 3 clubs. I question his motivation skills and decency and his choice of coaches. I'm a life long Ipswich fan so if he proves to be a success I'll be happy….. I'm just not convinced he's the right choice. If we want someone long term I doubt it, if we just want promotion and not look beyond maybe. Didn't love lambert but we wouldn't be in this league if he had the ability to pay fees.
