Aluko Back With Blues Ahead of Crewe Clash
Friday, 26th Nov 2021 09:37

Town boss Paul Cook has confirmed winger Sone Aluko is back with the squad ahead of Sunday’s home game with bottom club Crewe Alexandra.

The 32-year-old missed Tuesday’s 2-0 home defeat by Rotherham following the death of his father.

“Sone with be with us this weekend, he’s back in work this morning, 100 hundred per cent,” Cook said. “No more questions on the team guys. Sone is a one-off!”

Aluko’s absence was a particular blow with Wes Burns currently out with a hamstring injury, forcing Cook into moving Bersant Celina to the wide right role.

Town’s other first-team injury absentee of late has been left-back Hayden Coulson, who again wasn’t included in the 18 on Tuesday having suffered a knock at Wycombe early in the month.

A manager who refuses to talk about his team in press conferences - what a d*ck.

Did not work with Celina on the right. Feel he is better left wing with Chaplin the number 10.
Through Edwards could play both wings so for me strange that Celina went to the right,

This cloak and dagger approach over injuries is really causing our opponents all sorts of problems isn't it?! Might as well list the starting XI for all the difference it'll make.

Unfortunately the season is as good as over, regardless of Sundays result. We just have too much ground to make up on the top 7/8 teams and they are not all going lose form between now and the end of the season, and in all honesty this team is just not capable of stringing together 5/6 wins in succession, which is what will be required to get even close to the top 3 or 4.
Hope they miraculously prove me wrong of course.

I dispute that our season is over as some say. If we win three or four on the spin then you'd be surprised where that can elevate you in this league. It's just a matter of how do you get a team who can barely win back to back games to win four in a row.

I would personally like to see us add one or two more older/experienced players in January with a bit of know-how as I think that's what's been missing so far this season.

Do miss Aluko when not on the pitch. Need the three behind Bonne whoever they are to start linking up. They just don't seem to work together. Still think Edwards is better on the left than anybody (if only he could produce a decent cross!)

I also think our season is done..upper mid tbale.!

We have a manager that is overly rigid to his formation if working or not , he has no plan B and plan A is that great , for those that say he chmged to two up top against Rotheram - yes he did , but the game was already gone so utterly pointless at that stage.

We had a succession of players that cannot / or will not play forward passes , and many of them could not pass in a straight 20 yards the other night , it was poor!

67% possession is utterly pointless also if it is backwards and sideways in your own half - this must come from the coaches to play like this.

I think we will joust plod on winning the odd game , drawing and losing odd games also.

PC record here is dire , last season he took us backwards , and yes it does count we were pushing for playoffs and each place in the division earns the club money. This season he has his own players and yes "gelling " is required but that ship has sailed. I am concerned that PC cannot get a tune out of this group , and also by what appears to be poor coaching staff..Franny Jeffers - mediocre Striker as Defending coach???.

Whatever he will get till the end of the season, if lower mid or lower end off the table he should go , if on an upward trajectory and pushing keep him for me.

Celina hardly played right wing on tuesday. If he had done he would have given Donacian a better outlet and not taken Chaplins space. Celina was tucked inside most of the match. May as well have subbed him anyeay late on - nothing was coming off for him.

I'm pleased to hear that Sone Aluko is back with the squad. I am sorry for his loss and hope that he is as okay as can be expected. It's a horrible rite of passage, perhaps he and Joe Piggot can be each others council in the coming weeks. Chin up chaps, all the best.

Kickingblock: well said. You're the only person on here who has thought of Sone and what he's going through. I agree with you that it's probably good for him to be back around his mates.

So many really negative people on this forum. Chameleons who will change as soon as we get 3 or 4 wins
Is that what being a fan is?

Too many still far less than objective, but understandably as fans expressing their frustration and feelings ! Passion is good ,but observation needs to be coldly clinical, objective and analytical ; it's very plain some of ‘our' team on the pitch lack technical application and critical decision making !
The ‘ TOP' team in the Club Managerial structure need to step in, step up, apply some pressure for a re jig of the Coaching group and persuade Cook of the sense of urgency which needs to be introduced .
No reason for panic, but a mid- season reassessment of realities !
