El Mizouni Close to Orient Loan Switch
Thursday, 11th Aug 2022 15:33

TWTD understands League Two Leyton Orient are close to signing Blues midfielder Idris El Mizouni on loan.

In May, TWTD reported that the O’s were keen on the once-capped Tunisia international with the 21-year-old always appearing likely to leave Town this summer in order to gain senior experience with first-team opportunities set to be limited at Portman Road.

We understand the East Londoners have now made an offer and the deal looks set to go through in the days to come. Crewe are also understood to have shown strong recent interest.

El Mizouni made only seven starts and two sub appearances during 2021/22, scoring once, and was a late sub in Tuesday’s Carabao Cup tie defeat to Colchester on Tuesday.

The Paris-born schemer has previously had two spells on loan at Cambridge United and a further stint at Grimsby.

In total, El Mizouni, who joined the Town academy at 16, has made 16 starts and 10 sub appearances for the Blues, scoring two goals.

Tranmere Rovers were among the other clubs keen on El Mizouni earlier in the summer but their interest cooled after they signed former Blue Jon Nolan following his release by Bristol Rovers. Latterly, Lincoln City were also eyeing the academy product along with Orient and Crewe.

Elsewhere, former Town striker Ellis Harrison has joined League One new boys Port Vale from Fleetwood, who he moved to from Portsmouth in January.

Woolfenthen, I honestly can't see a future for Harper at ITFC to be honest. With El Mizouni there is a player in there and maybe a season out on loan will help but he will have to a lot to be a starter for Town.

Will be good to see how he does at Orient.

Woolfenthen. Dont see what this has to do with whether harper stays or not. It's been known for weeks that we were looking to get el mizouni out on loan. While he has some ability for sure, he hasn't really progressed as yet. Maybe this loan away will help him make that next step in his career. As for harper? In my opinion, ge should never play for the club again. And I rarely call a player out like that. I was excited when we signed him as he looked good at west brom, but I don't see anything in him at all.

Last chance for El Miz to impress;potential only takes you so far. Having said that there are plenty whoveset themselves up for life in football. Takes a good agent and a lot of arrogance. We've been taken in by lots of these in the past, but not anymore (ref: Tyreece Simpson)

Can't see much future for him at Ipswich unless we drop down a league or two. Next stop Chesterfield where another of our so called promising youngsters turned up.

Good luck to the boy. We have Humphreys backing up Ball Morsy and Evans plus any number of the “tens” like Aluko or Chaplin that can offer us something on CMF as an emergency so games elsewhere make complete sense
I quite like Harper but he needs more intensity for me to prove he has something offer, wouldn't be surprised if he should move on too

Good luck Idris, show them what we know you can do and then there must be a pathway into our first team.

Harper is awful. Too slow & can't pass to his own team mates. Can't see him getting any games this season other than in the pizza cup.

Hyperbrit. Yes, we still need another striker. Bug gave the strikers missed any clear cut chances this season so far? Fact is, no, they haven't bcse the clear chances we have created have all fallen to midfielders. And the chances aren't being created right now for them. Tbe biggest problem at this moment in time is the player who crested the majority of our chances last season(Burns), simply isnt performing right now. Hopefully he'll settle soon and once he does, and starts creating those chances for ladapo, he'll score goals. But again, yes, we do need another one, which will relieve the pressure too.
