Evans Set For Scans and Vincent-Young to Miss Port Vale Monday, 24th Oct 2022 12:11 Midfielder Lee Evans is set to under go scans this morning on the knee injury he sustained during Friday’s 1-0 home victory over Derby County, while Kane Vincent-Young is also set to miss Tuesday’s game at Port Vale.
Evans was substituted in the 76th minute of Friday’s game having suffered the knock earlier in the half.
“We came through Friday mostly OK,” manager Kieran McKenna told iFollow Ipswich. “We’re still checking Lee Evans's knee. He’s having some scans this morning so we’ll see how that goes. We obviously have Sam [Morsy] suspended as well.
“Kane Vincent-Young has got a minor calf injury so he’s unavailable. We’ve had a few injuries over the last month or two but that’s why we have the squad we do. We have really good players ready to step in.”
Centre-half Cameron Burgess and midfielder Panutche Camara came through 60 minutes of the U21s' 3-2 victory over Bristol City on Friday.
“It's very possible that Cameron and Panutche will be involved,” McKenna added. “We’re going to need everybody.
“We’re all hands on deck. We’re going to need 11 strong players on the pitch and then strong players on the bench ready to come on.”
The 28-year-old Welshman’s injury means the Blues seem likely to be without both their regular central midfielders at Vale Park with skipper Morsy suspended for one game having picked up his fifth booking of the season on Friday.
Dominic Ball will replace one of them, while youngster Cameron Humphreys looks set to come in for his full league debut with recent signing Camara unlikely to be viewed ready for a start having been out for five months with a groin injury prior to playing 45 minutes at Cambridge a week ago and his hour for the U21s.

Injuries mounting up. Bit concerning. Hopefully, we can get some back sooner rather than later. However, don't think Humphreys will let us down, and DB is solid. COYB!

Timing-wise, Port Vale away is not awful for this enforced change which was always going to happen at some point. Typical London buses scenario but giving Morsy a rest for the bigger game on Saturday is not the end of the world. Dom Ball is plenty good enough to fill in for Evans and Port Vale will be a good test to see where Cam Humphreys is in his development. No dramas (famous last words).

Big Match, Big week. You feel we have to go strong in attack and get our best goalscorers on the pitch- for me that is Burns, Chaplin, Harness, Ladapo - Not Jackson and John Jules Humphries was tidy but not very progressive at Cambridge ( the sending off dictated that I guess) He has looked good before. Can he take penalties? Come on Ipswich !

This is going to affect us tomorrow night I'm fearing. I wouldn't be underestimating PV at all and feel we'll need to be at our very best to get all 3 points. If Burgess' is back, who's out at the back then?

Evans has a period out every season due to an injury of some sort...the way he goes into some tackles it's not surprising, be interesting to see how we get on tomorrow night without Morsy as well.

As we have a decent gap between ourselves and the seventh place team as long as there's no complete collapse, which there's no reason why there should be, if we can continue in the top three until January and bring in another couple of players for the push through to the end of the season and hopefully an automatic place. As Champions would be nice, but second fine.

The combination of an experienced player such as Dominic Ball with a youngster like Humphreys sounds promising.

This is where our strong squad pays such dividends. These kind of situations would impact heavily on teams around us.

Im not too concerned about this. Whilst Morsy knows the game well and generally performs to a fairly high level, he is also painfully slow. Evans was fortunate not to be red carded on friday,so if its just one game out it certainly could have been worse. Ball and Humphreys will be fresh and a little more mobile around the field. What will 'p' me off more are if Chaplin and Edwards aren't starters. Quick brain and fast feet respectively are a must. The Derby game in particular made me realise how much I miss Aluko and Celina.

Tomorrow could potentially be tough even if we had Evans and Morsy. The pitch is apparently far from good and Vale aren't terrible, but I'm not too worried about injuries. Aluko and Leigh are the only longer term ones. I doubt our injury list is close to being the worst and our squad is close to if not the best.
