Blues Make Corbeanu Enquiry
Thursday, 5th Jan 2023 18:14

Town have made a loan enquiry to Wolves regarding winger Theo Corbeanu.

Canada international Corbeanu joined Wolves from Toronto FC in 2021 and spent the first half of last season on loan at Sheffield Wednesday and the second with the MK Dons.

The 20-year-old joined Blackpool in the summer on another loan spell and made 10 starts and eight sub appearances, scoring three times, before his spell was cut short earlier in the week following an ankle injury.

We understand Town are keen on taking Corbeanu for the second half of the season but with the move only having gone as far as an enquiry at this stage.

Hamilton, Ontario-born Corbeanu, who is 6ft 3in tall, won caps with Romania at 16 and U17 levels before switching allegiance to Canada, with whom he has won seven caps, scoring two goals.

Has a goal scoring record that makes Adahme and Jackson look impressive.
Have we room for another.
Next.

Lots happening, good.
He is presumably a Championship quality player.

Nomore4. He's a winger, not a striker, so goalscoring not his main job. More providing for the strikers. But cant expect you to post anything positive

Blues1. He's an attacking player. An attacking player playing anywhere in attack, needs to score occasionally at the very least. What's positive or negative about that opinion. Just obvious.

Blues1. Wingers who provide are allowed to score also…I thought the game had moved on?

I know nothing about him, but assuming he has scored his three goals in 10 starts which appears the case, his sub appearances have been scratchy and late form what I have checked. one goal every 3.33 games for a winger in a league above is decent - certainly better than our wingers although much rotation.
I think we need to remain positive in KmK judgement, general recruitment has been good and he knows what he wants to fit into his style. Lets trust and reserve judgement but lets also not turn on each other for different views.

We have Blackpool fans in the family so I have seen him play a bit both on telly and in person. Pacey, tricky, likes to go past people, but end product often frustrating. Might find League One defences easier to unlock. Certainly an upgrade on Gwion Edwards, but probably not as effective as Burns on fire.

Bmaj, don't you mean Kyle Edwards?

Can someone correct me if I'm wrong!
We can only sign 3players because of leauge squad rules (unless that doesn't include loan players?)
We got luongo on loan
This 6ft 3 winger on loan (that a Blackpool fan says ain't as good as burns on his day)
And we looking to get hirst ON LOAN

All gone quiet on WHITTAKER,TAYLOR someone please cheer me up with some factual positivity not dreamy wishful positivity

Don't want too many loans. Maybe one. No more.

Churchmans. In simple terms. We can have a squad of a certain size.
We have approx 3 weeks to tweak that squad to go into the season 2nd half.
This could involve multiple ins and outs, or maybe not.
The word tweak is key here.

@rfretwell - also similar! Maybe on a par but I think Kyle has a high potential, and with a run in the team (or in a different formation) he could be incredible.

If past history is the way Ashton does business it suggests that none of these names touted in the Press - Whittaker, Hirst, Taylor, Broadhead, Corbeanu, etc. - will ever arrive at Portman Road.
Ashton holds his cards close to his chest.

Nomore4. Did I say hes not allowed to score? My point is, that thats not the main thing he'd be here for. Would be here to provide service to the strikers/no.10s. Any goals he scored would be a bonus. What I find negative about ur post is simply the fact, that rather than just say it'd be a decent signing u have to give it the, "he makes jackson ahadme goalscoring look impressive". So ur comparing a,winger against 2 strikers. And can hardly judge ahadme yet as has barely played.

Churchman. Assuming we remove ball and probably camara from the squad, we can sign 4 over21 players. U21s don't count. Luongo isn't a loan. He's signed a 6 month deal after bòro agreed to release him. After hirst on loan, broadhead on a permanent, and this guy. So would guess, if they all sign, tgst would be it for us in this, window, unless we get anyone else in who's under21.

Churchmans. Oh forgot, this guy is only 20, so could still sign one more over 21 player too.

@Churchmans - I believe Luongo doesn't count as he was released from his contract and therefore signed as a free agent rather than on loan.
