New Barnsley Date Confirmed
Thursday, 16th Mar 2023 17:04

Town have confirmed that the trip to Barnsley will now take place on Tuesday 25th April with a 7.45pm kick-off.

Last night the match, which was initially scheduled for a week on Saturday, was postponed after the Blues had three international calls, Wes Burns and Nathan Broadhead having been selected by Wales, while Greg Leigh is expected to be in the Jamaica squad and skipper Sam Morsy was named in a preliminary list of overseas calls for Egypt.

Fourth-placed Barnsley are currently six points behind Town but with two games in hand having won six and drawn one of their last seven.

Looks like a crucial game, this one. I hope the change of date does not disadvantage us in any way and hope that the boys on international call-ups don't pick up any injuries while they are away.

I also wonder if Sky might show it on the red button alongside Blackburn v Burnley?

Will the tickets that get refunded go on sale? I can make a Tuesday night game as I work weekends.

Wow Peterborough away and Barnsley away three days apart. And now we have two weeks break when we were on a hot run. Don't know if this is a good decision, but trust the people in charge now what they are doing. COYB

Peterborough away is not such a big worry as Cheltenham went there and beat them 3-0. It may also be that Barnsley slip up and we have a gap on them come 25th April. It's all about us continuing our run tomorrow. I agree we have momentum but is a two week rest before the final run in really a bad thing? A chance for a few niggling injuries to be sorted out and more time with the coaching staff to work on improvements.

It's impossible to say if this will be to our advantage or not remember Barnsley are also in a hot run of form. The only worry for me is that at the moment we have all our key players fit and come April 25 things could be a lot different . The likes of Morsy, Burns and Walton are not automatic choices for nothing they are vital to the teams fortunes.

BobbyBell....Plymouth also went to Peterborough recently and lost 5-2 !! They'll take great pleasure in trying to end our hopes. None of us know if this is the right decision or not. On the surface...yes, but it now means 8 games in 29 days, with Morsy likely to be suspended for two of those, and injuries and mythical tiredness also playing a part. Football is so full of irony, that it seems obvious that the players called up for their countries will all miss the rescheduled game anyway !
