Blues skipper Sam Morsy is reported to be interesting clubs in Saudi Arabia.

An increasing number of Europe-based players are moving to the Saudi Pro League, most notably Cristiano Ronaldo, with very significant levels of cash provided by the PIF, the country's sovereign wealth investment fund, as the nation seeks to build its league.

Liverpool veteran Jordan Henderson is on the verge of a move to Al Ettifaq, who are managed by Steven Gerrard, and now it’s reported Blues captain Morsy is another of those being targeted, by so-far unnamed clubs. And we understand there is some truth to the reports.

The Egypt international is 32 in just over a month and a big pay day at this stage of his career could be attractive.

Morsy has two years left on his Town contract, the new deal he signed last summer having included a clause which would trigger an additional season on promotion to the Championship.

I thought Sky was footballs major threat but now it seems this Saudi onslaught is the new concern. I absolutely hate how football has gone this way; success bought at any cost and now whole leagues being snapped up to the highest bidder.

We've got to accept that there are options out there that will be tempting to our players. I'd like to think he'll see out his contract to the end of this season, but it's hard for a player coming to the end of his career, to turn down life changing wages, especially with a family to support.

On the plus side tho, maybe the Saudi league growing dominant might start to level the playing field in this country again and mean clubs like ours can stop having to behave like Serfs to the showbiz teams and told to be grateful for finishing 16th if we get up. Wouldn't it be so gutting to see those Big Six start to have all their players poached like they've done to us for 30 years.
