Wednesday Eyeing Clarke
Wednesday, 8th Jan 2025 16:59

Blues right-back Harry Clarke is understood to be on Sheffield Wednesday’s January radar

Rumours suggesting Owls interest in the 23-year-old began circulating on the TWTD Forum yesterday and the Sheffield Star is now reporting that Wednesday are among a number of Championship clubs eyeing the former Arsenal academy youngster.

It would be little surprise if Town were to allow Clarke out on loan for the remainder of the season with the recruitment of Ben Godfrey from Atalana for the remainder of the campaign having added to the right-sided defensive options.

The Ipswich-born, Brantham-raised defender has made four starts and three sub appearances during 2024/25 having been a regular during the Championship promotion season and the second half of the previous campaign as the Blues finished second in League One, having rejoined his boyhood club from the Gunners in the January.

Elsewhere, West Ham have sacked manager Julen Lopetegui after six months in charge with former Brighton and Chelsea boss Graham Potter, who was once interviewed for the Town job, expected to succeed him.

football is heartbreaking and its like a lot of things in life, Godfrey is an upgrade on some of our defenders so seeing favourites leave is sad but part of football and he deserves to be playing!

Both Woolf and Clarke are only 26 and 23 respectively so can be assets for us longer term still, whichever league we're in, so hopefully not permanent moves unless it's for big money (if someone offers £10m+ for either player, despite the sentimental nature of it, I'd personally bite their hand off) and on the basis that that's money we need to reinforce the current team especially if Philogene is another £20m invested. Still think a striker to back up Delap is on Ashton's shopping list, and if £10m+ from selling Harry gets us that, then I would say it is worth it.

In McKenna/Ashton We Trust.

A really nice genuine guy. Bleeds blue.
Not quite got the edge at the moment for the Prem though I'm afraid.

A lot of the players who got us here will sadly move on now. Just a sign of success.
We wish them all well.
Also heard that Wrexham are interested in Burns. A great move for him if true.

Being a former Brantham player myself it would be sad to see Harry go but unfortunately he struggles at Premier league level . Like a lot of full backs nowadays he's not comfortable in one on one situations and to me looks more like a central defender due to his bad positional sense in the full back area.

Be sad if he goes!

But we need players that will keep us in the prem he ain’t that!

A good loan to championship team will do him good!

Wolfy will stay as only getting better did well last few games

Let him go...he's not Premiership level, at least send him out on loan so he can get a run of games.
