Ex-Town Defender Tuanzebe Suing Manchester United Monday, 14th Jul 2025 12:17 Ex-Town defender Axel Tuanzebe is suing his former club Manchester United alleging “clinical negligence” regarding “medical advice”.
Tuanzebe, who left Portman Road at the end of the season and joined Burnley, came through the youth set-up at Old Trafford and broke into the senior side in January 2017.
However, injuries limited him to 37 appearances for the Red Devils over the next six and a half years while similarly featuring infrequently for the most part during loan spells at Aston Villa, Napoli and Stoke City.
United released him in the summer of 2023 when he signed for the Blues where he played more regularly, although with a freak cut to his thumb and then a hamstring injury restricting his involvement last season.
Now, according to the Daily Telegraph, the 27-year-old has lodged a legal claim at the High Court regarding the medical advice he received.
The DR Congo international’s lawyers are reported to have declined to comment.

No doubt on the advice of his "Mr 10%"

Conveniently forgetting that Man U paid him for six and a half years for roughly six appearances a season! And it’s hardly as if they gained out of it! Then we give him his chance to make a comeback and he disappears at the first opportunity. We shouldn’t expect any more or any less from modern day footballers but I think it’s a bit rich that he’s now suing a former club. Don’t get me wrong, I like him as a player but strongly question his values.

Difficult one @bluewarrior. I assume that he was given poor advice with regards to his injury/,s and that massively affected his game time. Perhaps his contract was very basic and he relied on appearances to really boost his income. One would assume that we treated him well down here and turned him into the player he should have been. 6 years of poor advice might have ruined his career.

To blame a player for doing the best for themselves in what is a incredibly short career is misguided. Whilst they may get paid well (at the top of the game, not all footballers earn hundreds of thousands), clubs will often push players to play through pain or play with knocks which compromise their future ability to recover or expose them to recurrences of issues. If Axel felt he was poorly advised or not well looked after, I don't blame him for looking into that further.

Can Ipswich sue him for not being able to wash up?

Man U have form with this don’t they? I remember Hargreaves doing similar.

Sorry RIPBobby disliked your post by mistake. A lot of assumptions flying around about a subject few of us know anything about. I'm sure he has a viable case or he wouldn't be bothering with the legal action.

Annoys me when people say short career, even a player earning 10k a week will earn more in 3 years than i will in 52 years, totally irrelevant! Yes poor advice could have ruined his career but he came out of it after we helped him on so many levels, personally i think he could have stayed and repaid something back to the club! Burnley will be in a relegation battle for sure, could have enjoyed a promotion challenge here, maybe more to his reason for moving than we know, players and their agents have in a lot of cases got a lot to answer too!

He had achieved basically nothing in his entire career until KMc rescued it. Even then his injury woes continued and were made worse by the ridiculous glass incident. Despite the injuries he had finally settled and made a career home for himself only to let his wife (the one not doing the dishes) dictate his career. I won’t be surprised at all if he only makes 20 games for Burnley and hopefully we give a wave to each other as we crossover at the end of next season

Think we should sue him for cutting his thumb so he couldn’t play :)

No idea whether his claim has any truth or not. Not really bothered as long as he doesn't try and sue us for not advising him to buy a dishwasher.

Why do some football fans think players must show/have endless loyalty to clubs? Axel owes us nothing, he had a contract and he saw it to its conclusion, that’s more than most players do. For those knocking him, do you show the kind of blinded loyalty to your employer that you expect of footballers?

Waste of space .No loyalty to us for getting him off the scrapheap.Took long enough to think about this legal action too ...another mc Goldrick

Christ alive at the nasty comments on here. People can be so mean behind a screen. No-one has any idea of what really happened, so why assume the worst because he chose to move clubs? The world is so stupid.
