Brentford Reportedly Eyeing Hutchinson
Monday, 14th Jul 2025 14:15

Premier League Brentford are reportedly showing interest in Blues forward Omari Hutchinson.

According to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, the Bees view the 21-year-old as a potential replacement for Bryan Mbeumo, who is being targeted by Manchester United.

However, it’s said the interest is at an initial stage and there have been no discussions between the West Londoners and the Blues regarding Hutchinson, who has been given additional time off by Town having been with the victorious England U21s squad at the European Championship in Slovakia.

The former Chelsea man’s displays at the tournament did his reputation no harm with the Bees, Everton, West Ham, Fulham, Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig among those linked during the competition, although with sources on Merseyside subsequently playing down the Toffees’ interest.

Town will want to keep hold of Hutchinson, who signed on a permanent basis from Chelsea last summer for a club record initial £20 million plus a further £2.5 million in top-ups.

However, the matter may be taken out of their hands if a club matches the £35 million relegation release clause included in the five-year deal the Redhill-born attacker signed last summer.

He'll have to go to get near the £100+ million sales promised to our new owners.

Far better suited to Brentford - Onari is a dar too stylish a player for the Championship Grind - he’s a Prem’ player and need that quality of player around him.
The Championship is no place for him, unfortunately now - and thus not for us !

At least it would be a better deal than the Delap one. Doubt Omari himself wants to drop down either.

Be disappointing if he goes. Hopefully we have potential replacements lined up.

He is perhaps our only genuine PL ready player imo. Ok maybe Dara but Omari is a class above and still only 21 with huge upside potential. He struggled to adapt in the first half last season but learned and improved and by end of season he was looking good. He’d have looked even better if we’d had a few more players of his level.

If we’re going to survive in the PL next time around we need more players of Omari’s calibre. And by the way £35m doesn’t got a long when it comes to PL ready players

I know it's just rumours at the moment, re Omari leaving. But I do feel it's almost inevitable and tbh, it really pisses me off.

It would be nice if these players just showed some loyalty for once. Would it really hurt Omari to stay this season with the likelihood of a promotion at the end of the season, and then back in the PL again with Town? But no, these kids all seem to want to chase the £££££'s

I dont care about " it's a short career" blah, blah, blah. None of us has a job for life in the real world, and we sure as hell dont get paid what these footballers get paid. So maybe just for once these footballers should show some loyalty to the club that took the chance on them.

This one wouldn’t surprise me, reinventing wisely must be our priority if Omari does go.

If every player showed loyalty there wouldn't be many transfers. Loyalty dosent apply if we're the buying club so bit of a silly comment.

Doak has had one good season in the championship so I wouldn’t value him at £30 million but prices for players who have barely played in the first team at top PL clubs demand high fees these days. I think we have shown this week that you can get better value by shopping abroad. Interesting to read that Jordan Henderson was allegedly wanted by a number of top clubs in PL and abroad but signed for Brentford! Also offering a 35 year old whose best playing days are behind him a 3 year deal seems a bit odd

Never heard so much bullchit in the comments!
Omari was fire for us the season we came up! And was as good as any other player in our poor prem season!
Omari would be awesome again in the championship and i hope that he or his management team takes the 1 season hopefully stay in the championship before we are prem again!!
Omari can truly be an ipswich great and legend!
If he leaves i will be gutted because brentford offer nothing other than prem football(which we cant lol) but i believe we can!
I will be gutted if he leaves! Real gutted! And so should all of us! Unfortunately thats modern football! Run mostly by management/agent companies

A replacement for Mbuemo? Two very different players surely? Can’t see him hitting Mbuemo’s goalscoring heights.

I will say again, he had couple of good games but didn’t show that he was the finished article, long way to go! Compare him to Encisco, he really had something about him and looked every bit a prem player. Omari would have an amazing season in the championship! People saying he too good for us need to give their heads a wobble!!

Isn't this party why we bought him? To sell him on and make a profit?

Gforce, obviously like me, you're a big fan of Ben Doak. Should have got him in instead of Philogene in my opinion, when we had the chance. This is not to denegrate JP, who we clearly haven't seen the best of. Not easy coming into a struggling side, when you're still young and a lot is expected of you due to the fee paid, then the injury. I'll give him a free pass at the moment. But Ben Doak, yes please!

Forgot to say, as for OH, well I think we're in a win win situation. If by any chance he stays ( because he wants to ), he'll rip the Championship to pieces. If he goes, we pocket a fair amount of money to splash elsewhere, and yes I have figured in the initial £20M we paid, plus add ons. That should leave us with somewhere around a £12.5M profit unless my not always exemplary maths is incorrect!

Having the money is one thing, still got to find and temp players ,that is not easy .I hope this won't be a deadline day drama.

Linkboy: you're obviously from a different era. I remember watching the game where players DID stay at a club for years and were rewarded with a TESTIMONIAL.... a by gone era.

Is that "a bit silly comment" for you too. Or just a Town fan voicing their views about how the game has changed, and not for the better!

I shall in future look out for your silly comments and respond accordingly.

Personally I think it was a big ask for omari to replicate his form from the championship into the prem..even most of our senior players couldn't do it so I put it down as a learning curve. He showed glimpses and is clearly a talent and one more season in the championship could be the making of him

A replacement for Mbeumo?...not really the same type of player and Hutchinson is more of a right sided winger and more versatile whilst Mbeumo more of an attacker., either way no surprise at all that a Premier side is looking at him.

If I was Omari with the loss of their (Brentford) manager and some of their well known players I'd stay clear.

Such a good player. Wasn’t a ten last year and got bullied at times in that role, but quality and potential wise, he is a class above.

Against West Ham, a bit late. But finally looked like he believed he belonged.

Another deal where we won’t make his value in the deal.., suspect we’ll eventually get the full £35 million though.

The financial point that gets missed is we haven’t paid £20 million…, much of that we still owe.

So we’ll book a profit, but crucially take £5 million a year from our liabilities for the next 3 or 4 years…, sadly, if we’re on EFL revenue, that’s crucial.

This is why the spend last year and getting better value was so crucial.

We are seeing the consequences playing out.

IF we get new owners, it will be a great reset and opportunity to get real football people at the very top of the club.., and a longer term vision.

Would have so loved Omari to be here for a decade or so .., like Delap.., they are going to be very special players. They don’t come along very often.

It’s reported he is on 6k a week which is nothing to a Prem side……. Would hope Town will offer a new contract to try and keep him as Morsy is reported to be on 30k

If true Town could offer that seeing we have lost 5 players wages

Or is it not that simple
