Muric's Serie A Loan Confirmed
Wednesday, 13th Aug 2025 09:30

Town keeper Aro Muric’s loan move to Serie A new boys Sassuolo has been confirmed.

The deal is understood to include an option for last season’s Serie B champions to buy the Kosovan international for €10 million (£8.7 million) next summer.

Sassuolo were initially mentioned in connection with a move for Muric early last month, but last week the 26-year-old was strongly linked with a loan move to Turkish Süper Lig side Çaykur Rizespor.

The Swiss-born keeper, who was also linked with AS Monaco this summer, endured a tough first season at Portman Road having signed from Burnley for £8 million plus £2 million in add-ons in July last year.

Having made 19 appearances in all competitions, Muric’s 2024/25 was ended prematurely by a shoulder injury which required surgery and his only involvement in pre-season was as a half-time sub in the 2-1 victory over Charlton at Colchester.

The one-time Manchester City youngster’s Town contract runs to the summer of 2028.

can't believe we've actually loaned out the best goalkeeper at the club

"£8 million plus £2 million in add-ons" - presumably none of the add-ons would've been triggered, would they?

Can't help but think he has come out of this whole sorry affair with the best deal. He must have chuckled watching last night. Good luck Aro.

Sassuolo will be begging us to take him back in no time. Remember Forest sent him back to Man City after just 4 apps. Beware!

I’m sure he’s relieved to get away from the place to be honest !

Well done to Mark Ashton - doing a great job getting rid of players. Our players.

Not so good bringing players in. Awful in fact. We need new permanent additions. Got enough loans now.

Not convinced with the GK situation at the club. Walton wasn’t great last night and Palmer not convincing on Friday.

Remember going to Brighton away when he was unbelievably good in that 0-0 draw. Seemed to lose confidence quickly and a mistake waiting to happen. Hope the move works out for him. Note it is an option to buy not obligation, so he might end back at Portman Road?

Come on , you over critical commentators ! There’s been general agreement AM has some real talent, but the unfortunate injuries at ITFC meant he had no chance to prove himself - and show his very best for us .
Wish him well, become confident again and show us all you’ve got it in you !
Best of luck!

To be fair he had a poor goal-scoring record.

Jas0999. Keep saying it, you think you could do better bringing players in, offer ur services. And why do you keep blaming.Ashton? He doesnt recruit players. Only deals with the financial and contractual side of the deals. And we've signed 6 already. As for Palmer not convincing on Friday? He had nothing to do the whole 90 minutes. Or with Muric gone, are u looking for ur next scapegoat.

I wish Muric all the best there, and hope we eventually get some money back on him. I am not sure the 10m Euro option means much. The key questions are whether there was a loan fee and whether we are still paying a percentage of his wages.
