Town skipper Matt Holland has been named in the Ireland squad to play Scotland at Lansdowne Road before travelling to face named for the matches against Mexico, USA and South Africa.
Break Ruled Out for Johnson Tue 16th May 2000 14:49
A broken collarbone has been ruled out after David Johnson underwent x-rays on his shoulder/neck injury yesterday. He does, however, have severe bruising, is very swollen and has damage to his soft tissue. It looks increasingly likely that the bench is as much as he can hope for tomorrow. The full Town squad: R Wright, Branagan, Wilnis, Croft, Clapham, Stockwell, Mowbray, Venus, Brown, Thetis, Holland, Magilton, Reuser, J Wright, Johnson, Scowcroft, Stewart, Naylor and Logan.
More Transfer Rumours Tue 16th May 2000 11:25
This morning's papers contain more of the type of rumours we are set to expect throughout the summer. Charlton are apparently after Eidur Gudjohnsen and Mark Fish, but if there is no God and Bolton are promoted, Alan Curbishley will look to purchase David Johnson and James Scowcroft. All seems a bit far-fetched to me and could well just be a re-hash of old stories linking Charlton with Johnson and Scowcroft.
Wright in Provisional Squad Mon 15th May 2000 16:10
Town keeper Richard Wright and former Blues star Kieron Dyer have both been included in Kevin Keegan's provisional 28-man England squad which will play friendlies against Brazil and the Ukraine.
Sell Out/Injury News/First Link of Summer Mon 15th May 2000 12:11
Wednesday's crucial play-off with Bolton at Portman Road has been confirmed as sold out.
JohnsonGudjohnsen Out Mon 15th May 2000 10:48
It seems likely that both Town and Bolton will be without two of their top men for Wednesday's crunch play-off second leg at Portman Road. David Johnson injured his neck in a clash with Mark Fish, whilst Eider Gudjohnsen was injured when Wayne Brown landed on him. Good news for Town is that Tony Mowbray may well be back in the Town defence after suffering double-vision when his head made contact with Dean Holdsworth's arm. Mowbray's return could well see Manu Thetis drop to the bench after a terrific display from Wayne Brown as substitute. The excellent Martijn Reuser seems likely to replace Johnson.
Bolton 2-2 Town Sun 14th May 2000 23:00
Town came from two goals behind to draw in a dramatic Play-off first leg at the Reebok Stadium. Goals from Dean Holdsworth and Einar Gudjohnsson put the Trotters ahead in a first disastrous half an hour for Town. Both Tony Mowbray and David Johnson went off during this period. A brilliant strike late in the first half from Marcus Stewart put Town back in contention before substitute Martijn Reuser put Stewart through one-on-one with the Bolton keeper, who the Town record signing walked round before placing the ball in the corner of the net past the waiting defenders. It all sets up a big night on Wednesday at Portman Road.
Holland Nominated Fri 12th May 2000 17:02
Matt Holland has been nominated for Nationwide Player of the Year. The Town skipper has been named amongst the list of eight players which also includes Portsmouth's Steve Claridge, Man City's Shaun Goater and Charlton's Richard Rufus.
Some Away Tickets Still Available Thu 11th May 2000 13:01
ITFC's Ticket Office still has a couple of hundred tickets available for the away leg of the play-off semi-final. Tickets for Sunday's game go on general sale tomorrow morning and it is likely that only those queueing from the early hours will get to go to the Reebok.
Mowbray to Play On Wed 10th May 2000 17:35
Town coach Tony Mowbray is in discussions over a new one-year playing contract. Mogga had expected to concentrate on coaching this season, but came into the side in October when the defence was looking a bit shaky.
