WBA 1-1 Town Tue 04th Apr 2000 23:02
Town failed to return to second position in Division One with a stuttering display at the Hawthorns. Town lined up playing 4-4-2 as John McGreal and Fabian Wilnis had failed to reach fitness. Gary Croft played left-back whilst Mick Stockwell came in at right-back and Jermaine Wright and Jamie Clapham played the wide midfield roles.

Defender Injury Crisis Mon 03rd Apr 2000 14:52
John McGreal looks set to miss Town's crunch game at West Brom tomorrow with a twisted ankle. The former Tranmere man was injured in training on Saturday when blocking a shot. As well as McGreal Fabian Wilnis and Gary Croft may also miss out with hamstring and groin injuries respectively. Town have a number of options, Mark Venus might move to left back, Wayne Brown might come in or Manu Thetis may get a recall, as might Mickey Stockwell. In all probability Town will play 4-4-2, but with the personnel situation as it is 5-3-2 may be the way Town shape up. As for the strikers David Johnson and James Scowcroft will probably continue although Marcus Stewart is over the worst effects of his injury. Martin Reuser looks likely to start on the bench. Full squad: R Wright, Branagan, Wilnis, Croft, Stockwell, Mowbray, Venus, Brown, McGreal, Thetis, Holland, Magilton, J Wright, Reuser, Scowcroft, Johnson, Naylor, Stewart and Axeldal.
Kennedy Out Fri 31st Mar 2000 13:27
Town have released right-back John Kennedy. The Cambridge born player made nine appearances for the first team, all during the hiatus between Mauricio Taricco joining Spurs and Fabian Wilnis joining. Since then Gary Croft has also signed for Town and it looked inevitable that Kennedy would find himself on his way from Portman Road. He is likely to find a club in the lower leagues and says he is sending round a few letters.
Midgley Off to Kidderminster? Thu 30th Mar 2000 13:26
Neil Midgley could once again be off on loan, this time to Conference side Kidderminster Harriers. The midlanders' rotund manager Jan Molby watched Midgley score two in the 7-0 demolition of Wycombe Wanderers reserves yesterday afternoon. As yet George Burley has had no contact from the scouse-voiced Dane, but is expecting to hear that he wants Midgley until the end of the season. Kidderminster could well run out winners of the Conference this season. Midgley, who scored on his Town debut against West Brom on December 18th, has already enjoyed a successful loan spell at Luton this season and is keen to get more first team football under his belt.
