Trevor Francis was probably the more relieved of the two managers as Town and his men shared the points at St Andrew's. A Tony Mowbray own goal was cancelled out by a David Johnson strike on the stroke of half-time in a Sunday lunchtime clash which was never the most enthralling of games.

Jim Magilton won his fortieth cap for Northern Ireland in the 3-1 win in Luxembourg. The Town midfielder even came close to scoring with a shot which hit the bar. The Ulstermen's goals came from Manchester United youngster David Healy who scored twice on his debut and West Brom's James Quinn. Meanwhile Matt Holland was on the bench for Ireland, whilst Richard Wright once again sat out for England.

Fallen from grace Town start Adam Tanner will have to wait for a week before he knows his fate. Tanner pleaded guilty to charges of drink-driving and failing to stop after an accident at Chelmsford magistrates. A custodial sentence is thought to be a distinct possibility for the Town centre-half.

Town extended their unbeaten run to seventeen games with a hard fought victory over Crewe at Gresty Road. Crewe old boy Jermaine Wright scored the Town winner in the 89th minute after Jamie Clapham and Paul Tait had scored the goals which put the sides level.

Town skipper Matt Holland has been called into the Ireland squad for the friendly with the Czech Republic on Wednesday. He joins Jim Magilton and Richard Wright on international duty. Wright is in the England squad whilst Magilton is back with the Northern Ireland team.

Town travel to Crewe today for tomorrow's clash with Crewe without injury victims Gary Croft, Mark Venus and Manu Thetis. Croft is out with the gashed knee that saw him stretchered off last weekend, whilst Venus is still suffering with his ankle. Thetis injured his ankle in the reserve game on Wednesday. Michael Clegg comes straight into the squad and may well start at right wing back. Town reserves lost 3-0 to Millwall this afternoon at Portman Road, their second defeat in a row. Town didn't really deserve mauch better than a defeat and to add insult to this they lost Manu Thetis to injury at half-time. New French loanee Patrice Maurel was impressive, looking quite nippy playing at right midfield. Town team: Salmon, Kennedy, Moffat, Thetis (Keeble), Miller, Holster, Maurel, J Wright, Axeldal, Midgley (Logan) and Friars.
